Pub food is never something I tend to expect too much from, usually a tasty and filling meal, but not something with too much flare or imagination..
I thought this until I tried @thevoyageofbuck
These dishes are actually a throwback to their New Years Menu, which was fantastic value and throughly enjoyed.
We got 6 courses, plus champagne and a cocktail included. (The cocktails are amazing, featuring a place themed and ever evolving menu)
This Poached Halibut, with spices and Puy Lentils was seriously tasty and beautifully presented.
The second course (swipe ) of Spiced Fondant Potato with cauliflower purée was surprisingly delicious- who knew potato could taste so good and interesting!
Also particularly loved our dessert (swipe ) of Coconut Mousse with Passionate Fruit Lassi and Meringue. I love anything passion fruit and the flavour really shone through well here.
If you want someone central in town, but slightly away from the main hustle and bustle, this place is perfect for you. The whole place screams laid back trendy vibes- make sure to check out the rubber ducks on the ceiling
I know this was a while ago now, but the quality of the food and service remains, and is a real step up for Edinburgh pub dining offerings. With a welcoming and neighbourly feeling clientele, it’s a much visit I’d say!
