#sewphotohop day 1 - Hi I’m Phoebe and I sew (very slowly) because I love it and also because it helps me maintain some sanity in a society/world I find increasingly weird and mad! Or as Clueless puts it - “It gives her a sense of control in a world full of chaos.” .
I have been sewing on and off for about 10 years and have found that it, along with running (I started with the nhs couch to 5k podcast a year ago to improve my fitness), are the best forms of self help, meditation, mindfulness, whatever you want to call it! (in my humble opinion of course!) I’m a slow sewer because I struggle deciding on the ‘right’ combination of sizes and with cutting into fabrics I ❤️❤️❤️ and also with my overwhelming craft stash!
I’m a complete craft/making dabbler and love trying new disciplines but my heart belongs to all things fiber (ok and maybe printing too - I have a few small letterpresses in the garage!) I ‘studied’ upholstery for about 5 years before having my 2 babes and I credit that class with giving me a good, no fear attitude when it comes to sewing but perhaps not so good with choosing apt dressmaking fabrics.
Otherwise, I’m 34 Aussie, mum of 2 (my eldest is starting school 😢/😘), make corporate videos with my clever and creative husband, and live in SW London. If I could live anywhere else it would be Sydney, Tasmania (never been but sure I would love it 😂) Currumbin, north coast NSW or St Ives in Cornwall. So, anywhere coastal basically.
The intro day is always my fave with photo challenges because it’s so nice to give all you amazing sewists some further context.
I’m taking full advantage of being an Aussie here and having 2 time zones so when I’m late with I post it’s ok. Who am I kidding, I’m still late!
