How would I describe the phenomenon of death in a soothing tone? Like those breezes blowing leisurely over deserted beaches at 3 a.m, sending chills on my spine and goosebumps on my skin, as I sit there with my empty mind, cheeks sticky with the tears that had dried up. The teeth clattering weather wasn't enough to ruin my health and arrogance of going out without a warm jacket. To help the cold winds hitting my lungs harder everytime I inhale, I lit up a cigarette. The fire died out within a minute. I wondered whether it would sound weird if I elucidate the process of death to the stars shining high above, through the words giving an insight to the eerie atmosphere of the dead hours of a cold long night, instead of using abstract metaphors.
Imagine a dingy hut, standing near the beach, holding the watermark of solitude on its bricks. Imagine the roars of waves reaching your eardrums and you staying indoors, knees drawn closely to your heart, trying to ignore their call to take you away with them. There is an earthen lamp at the darkest corner. You give an half-baked smile to the light flickering due to the heavy blowing of winds. Your lips shape a vanquished smirk at the audacity of the lamp with almost nil amount of oil trying to keep the flame ablaze. The bleak attempt of continuing the audacity however amuses you at some point of time. You get up, sit near the lamp, place your palms around it in a protective manner to prevent the wind from disturbing it. The flame increases, the tip starts growing sharper, the flickering element takes a still form. You heave a sigh of relief, until you notice the flame ceasing at an abnormal pace. You notice that there isn't even a single trace of oil left in the earthen container. The flame dies out within seconds. You do nothing, just watch....watch......watch....
You return to your former position, try to hear the roars of the waves which have now transformed into murmurs. You want to make sure if they still want you to accompany them in the joyride and reach some obscure place where the blue colour also represents pitch dark, just like the void inside my mind.
Ah! Shiverrrr! Pneumonia....
