Nutrition 101 moment here: are you still afraid of fat??
You might think that fat in foods is the same as the fat in your body, but it’s not that simple. Fat is ESSENTIAL to your body. It’s a substantial and long-lasting source of energy that doesn’t leave you with a blood sugar spike and crash. Think of it as a slow-burning log in your body rather than kindling. It helps you absorb certain vitamins, it provides protection for your organs, and it’s vitally important in maintaining a healthy brain, hormones, tissues, skin, hair, nails, and cell structure. So you want fat in your life!
Here’s the thing, the TYPE of fat is also very important. Grass-fed and pasture-raised meats, fish, avocados, nuts, seeds, legumes, eggs, and coconut oil are all examples of healthy sources of fat.
When looking at ingredient labels, beware of trans fat, partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oils, and cooking with canola oil or other vegetable oils (they becomes rancid at high temperatures, creating free radicals that damage healthy cells in your body). Instead, you want to cook with oils that remain stable at high temperatures like ghee, avocado oil, and coconut oil.
We could talk about this for hours, but here’s just a short, practical piece of nutrition information for you! YOUR BODY LOVES FAT 🤗 What are you going to eat today that includes a healthy fat?!
