Marie sighed and tossed her phone. "Whoa." "What's wrong?" Luke asked. She eyed her phone, telling Luke to pick it up and read the messages. Luke frowned. "Maybe he's just sad?" He shrugged. "Don't worry about him." He pulled her into a hug. "He's not worth you being upset, you're fixing to be living your dream, you don't need to worry about someone who's trying to bring you down." Tears streamed down Marie's face.
Luke wiped them with the sleeve of his jacket. "Hey, as hard as it is, sometimes you gotta leave people behind when you're moving on with your life." She nodded. "You're right." "Hand me my phone?" "I gotta take care of something." He looked at her confused, but obliged.
