I’ve been playing around with the rims of bowls and cups lately. In the past, I made them perfectly level and smoothed them with a wet chamois. After I carved the texture on the pieces shown here, I lightly carved the rim away and am really pleased with the result. It’s a small detail, but I think it changes the whole feel of the piece. The fourth picture was the result of an error - I waxed the rim by mistake, so I sanded some of the wax off and glazed it. I am REALLY PLEASED with how that one turned out. I’ll have to do that again.
