It’s gets hectic, the pressure is real, it can make you feel like you’re never enough or you never have enough. the juggling act is endless and the margin for error is so small.
Its times like this that I try to get perspective- most of the bullsh*t thats causing me stress won’t even matter in 12mths. What’s important is I’m anchored, I’m healthy, my family is healthy, the lights are on and I’m putting food on the table. And I’m 100% in control of the controllables. The rest I try to let go of.
As a man- I’ve discovered my male default is to internalise my stress and anger. This is such a dangerous male trait.
I decided very young that I don’t want to be an outwardly angry person (at my size, I learnt this would end up extremely expensive fixing holes in my walls all the time - or rotting in a prison cell like some of my friends were)...but the stress and tension must go somewhere. •
I find talking about it somewhat helpful, but honestly, not always. I make time to decompress via lifting weights and trying to relax. My best friend and fiancé is amazing as she’s a weapon at seeing my Forrest from my Trees and helping me devise strategies when I’m clouded.
I also talk to God- prayer just makes my soul feel good. There’s something about being able to talk to “The Boss”.
We all have coping mechanisms- for some it’s alcohol, drugs, fitness, sex, success, money, power- I don’t judge cos we all have them. Some key things that help me are:
1. Breathe & Remember You’ve Gotten Through Every Battle Thats Come Before This One.
2. Get Around People Who You Admire & Look Up To. This helps with perspective and also- success leaves clues. Find them and apply them to your Life.
3. Make Time For Fun. You have to keep your “tyres pumped up” emotionally.
That’s me- what works for you guys?
