Vertical alignment has been on my mind a lot. @apron_education and have been discussing this for a while now. It first caught our attention back in February when we noticed that many teachers seemes to stick to the same old historical, black figures each year. We thought it would be neat if teachers in different grade levels collaborated so they could cover a variety of people to introduce to their students for Black History Month. December is no exception to the trend that we see. A quick scroll through my IG feed shows me that most K-5 elementary teachers near and far are gearing up to teach the same thing! We teach kindergarten currently. Since our students will more than likely get the same lesson every December for the next 5 years (), we decided we couldn't and wouldn't release a basic December unit. We instead chose to highlight International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the history of white elephant gifts. It is our final social studies unit, and then our K-3 bundle will (finally) be complete! We are so excited to get this one out to you guys!
