8 years ago, on a gorgeous autumn day, Kevin told he me he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I still look back on that day with warm fuzzies, every detail cemented in my mind, from the warm, yellow glow of the sun through the leaves, to the pounding of my heart through my flannel shirt. I was so excited to marry this man, my friend, whom I had cherished for a long time and waited patiently for.
The first photo (📷: @cynee_photos) was taken during our engagement shot a few weeks after that day. I love the authentic joy captured here. The second photo (📷: @j.brynnae.photography) was taken a few weeks ago, and shows that same joy.
Marriage is hard. There is no perfect relationship. We are both broken people and we have hurt each other and acted in defiant selfishness. But I am so thankful for the commitment and faithfulness of this man. We’ve weathered hard seasons and have struggled and suffered together. We have also enjoyed building our life together, a life filled with love and grace and joy and growth. We’ve made two wonderful children together and have been raising them side-by-side. Who but God would have known what wonder was in store for us over the next 8 years? The peaks and valleys have made for a glorious adventure, and there’s no one I’d rather journey with.
