💗 | Shot by @strangebirdproductions for @metoomvmt • Extremely humbled to be a part of this campaign. As an artist, change-maker & a survivor of sexual assault, I recognize that it’s IMPORTANT and NECESSARY that I utilize my platform to share information/knowledge regarding social issues, especially those that affect the communities I am a part of. Be it the Black community, the LGBTQIA+ community, the femme/womxn community, it’s important that we take time to educate both the masses & ourselves. There is always more to learn. Allow yourself to be checked, allow others the space to be heard, allow yourself space to expand your perspective & knowingness. We have so much knowledge amongst the collective. It’s about time we center our focus on the state of the collective, and bring the silenced voices of sexual assault survivors (men, womxn, trans, femme, non-binary folx alike) to the forefront. • I’m rambling lol, so I’ll leave y’all with this. You matter. Your story matters. Our collective voices are being heard. Despite what them old, headass yt men be shouting (and TRUST, I know they be MAAAAADDDD LOUD w/ their opinions), know that your truth overpowers all the hate they spew our way. Appreciative of all that @taranajaneen + this movement stand for, thank you again. #metoo

Bleibt aufmerksam! #rapeculture #victimblaming #ok2share #redmylips #slutshaming #metoo #injustice #books #reading

Actress Sonakshi Sinha is not ready to comment on the Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar row, saying it is important to know both sides of the story before commenting. “It is better to say the least about this issue because there will always be two sides to the story. We have often seen that when someone comes up with such an issue, then the media and people start discussing about it. But later we find out that the truth is something else. So, I think without knowing both sides of the stories, we shouldn’t get into it,” Sonakshi said when asked about her stand on the issue at an event in Mumbai.

The #MeToo movement has gained momentum in Bollywood with Tanushree alleging that Nana harassed her on the sets of their 2008 film Horn Ok Pleassss. Tanushree has also filed a police complaint against Nana, who has denied the allegations.

Sonakshi said that creating a safer workplace for all was a must. “If a woman feels unsafe in a working environment, then I think it is anyway very wrong. No woman should be made to feel unsafe when she goes to work and strict measures should be taken to make sure that a woman is safe wherever she goes.” Sonakshi said that she hasn’t experienced sexual harassment in her life but feels girls must be taught self-defense. “I would urge our government to incorporate self-defense as a compulsory subject. I have been saying this for a long time. “If a girl knows how to protect herself from a very young age, then I think she can protect herself. She need not be dependent on a man.” #sonakshi, #sonakshisinha, #nanapatekar, #tanushreedutta, #aslisona

For our #WomenAndPower issue, we spoke to @nicolekidman about power in Hollywood, the first powerful decision she made in her life, and #MeToo moments she's faced. Of her marriage to Tom Cruise, Kidman says "I married for love, but being married to an extremely powerful man kept me from being sexually harassed. I would work, but I was still very much cocooned." Tap the link in our bio now to read her full discussion of power and how she's acquired and wielded it through her career. 📸: @amandademme

“MICHELLE OBAMA BREAKS SILENCE IN SUPPORT OF #METOO MOVEMENT”
“Enough is enough,” said Michelle Obama, former first lady, on the Today show this Thursday. “The world is a sadly dangerous place for women and girls and we see that again and again,” she later added. “I’m surprised on how much has changed and how much has not changed,” claimed Obama while discussing the social movement aimed at ending sexual violence and empowering women worldwide.

#MeToo | Part I
Exactly one year ago, this hashtag went viral; it was the beginning of a revolution. @milano_alyssa suggested that women should reply with "me too" to her tweet if they've been sexually harassed or assaulted.
I fought long with myself - I wanted to be able to talk about this topic so badly last year, but I didn't. I couldn't back then; I wasn't ready to speak up. After all, my "me too moments" were one of the main reasons for my eating disorder (because it's about regaining control). Now, I know about the healing power of openness and I feel way stronger since. Also, it's important to share our stories to see that we are not alone in this. I'm nervous, but it's time for me to say: Me too.
I could probably write a whole book about sexual harassment; it's somehow part of being a woman - and that's more than sad. I received disgusting comments on the street and online. I found my pictures between pornographic content only because I wore leather - and what people commented is nothing a woman wants to read. There are still pictures I can't remove until today.
But not only that. I know what it feels like when boundaries are crossed, when several noes are ignored; I know what unsolicited touches are; about the uncomfortable feeling you get and how the body freezes. I know what it feels like to be pushed, pressured and manipulated. I know about abusive situations, about feeling helpless and weak. And it's not what most think - no strangers, no drugs, no alcohol etc. Those people I'm talking about, are "normal" guys. It could probably be your friend or the shy guy who's always super polite. Most guys aren't even aware that they are toxic - because guys are still taught that women only play hard to get and that they have to push them a little until the girl gives in and they get what they want. If I say no, don't try to convince me; I have my reasons. Only an emphatic, freely given yes, means yes. Consent isn't a grey zone; it's strictly black and white. The only things that turns grey is the life of the person that gets assaulted. I accepted apologies I never received to move on; I have flash backs and memories I don’t want to have…

Today a year ago.
Civil Rights activist Tarana Burke from The Bronx, NY, founded the #metoo movement in 2006 that spread through a tweet by Alyssa Milano and shook the world with a clear message:
✖️
Millions and millions of women all over the world have since the beginning of time been exposed to sexual harassment, violence, assault, violation and abuse. Every day. Every hour. Every Minute. In all parts of society.
✖️
A culture of silence has been broken and we will never never never ever give up.
✖️
This is a global movement for human rights. Don’t make it out to be anything else.
✖️
Don’t ever be silent- Allow your voice to be heard. ✖️
Whatever we wear, wherever we go
Yes means yes, and no means no!
✖️
This revolution is not over until we get to where we need to be. It will continue everywhere, all the time.
✖️
BE BRAVE. SPEAK UP. REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
✖️
There are millions of women who’s got your back and we won’t let go.
✖️
Wake up every morning and be proud to continue our united fight to crush the patriarchy!👊🏿👊🏾👊🏽👊🏼👊🏻
✖️

#exactly #vote#DonaldTrumpJr.'s new girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, is leaving her role at Fox News. The network said in a statement that it "has parted ways with Kimberly Guilfoyle," and CNN reports that she will join Trump Jr. on the campaign trail for the 2018 midterm elections. Here's what you should know about her.
-
Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle calls them the 'perfect team'
-
Donald Trump Jr. and former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle have been dating since the spring, and things are still going strong between them as the summer draws to a close and the midterms fast approach.
-
Speaking to Page Six's Richard Johnson at a Hamptons fundraiser, Guilfoyle gushed about her whirlwind romance with the first son.
-
"I've never been happier," Guilfoyle reportedly said. "I am thrilled to be joining Don Jr. across the country in amplifying the America-first message. We are working non-stop and we make the perfect team."
-
During the Bridgehampton event, sources say that the couple "arrived like royalty and worked the room together," added that they appeared to be "a real power couple."
-
And, after Guilfoyle introduced her boyfriend to the stage, Don Jr. called his ladylove "a tough act to follow."
-
The unlikely pair was first linked back in May, two months after he split from ex Vanessa Trump.
-
Later in June, the couple made their rumored romance Instagram official after sharing a slew of airbrushed photos from their weekend fishing trip to Montana.
-
He calls her "Junior Mint," while she refers to her man as "Pooh Bear."
-
Trump Jr. once asserted on a radio show in 2013, that women who can't handle workplace harassment should teach kindergarten.
