Anybody else have a husband that is away for work? Travels? Or maybe just a night shift? 🙋🏼♀️ Early on in the beginning when my hubby and I were starting out on this “apart but together” road I would find myself getting a little bitter. (Okay, if I’m honest it sometimes still happens). I mean, c’mon! When you are THE cook, THE maid, THE teacher, THE discipliner, THE trainer.... all without another set of eyes or ears or hands to help out. It can get lonely. It can get hard. Really hard. Especially those days where the “me time” just ain’t happening.
One thing that really helped me out was finding my simple joys. Like, those aspects of your life that bring a smile to your face no matter what is being thrown at you. Now seriously, I know that Jesus is MY ROCK. And he will help me out in any situation BUT I’m talking about outside of him. What little things bring you a SIMPLE joy. Simple is the key word. Cause really, let’s be honest, a new pair of shoes, a girls night out or even a workout is not always going to find a way to work in your budget or schedule. So, they need to be those things you can be grateful for REGARDLESS of how much down time you got that particular day, how much sleep you didn’t get the previous night or how empty your bank account is. Thinking on these simple joys for some reason just helps a grumpy heart look at the blessings around.
My simple joys are (drum roll please) decaf coffee I can sip late at night while cleaning my kitchen (see pic above), the most coziest blanket known to man and a good book. So, what are your simple joys?
