When I decided two years ago to make Barcelona my home, I was drawn here for so many reasons. Spain is my birth land and I had always told myself I’d come back here to live as an adult. I made an entirely impetuous decision to come here, and aren’t those types of decisions often the best ones? We spent so much time in our heads often it’s the spontaneous decisions that are not just exhilarating, but also life changing.
My body, mind and soul needed a break and the easy, relaxed life immediately drew me in. The sea and mountains all within reach. An unapologetic freedom where everyone can be themselves and not be judged. ... What has probably been the most amazing part of my time here, has been my daily wanderings through the city, often with no destination in mind. The streets of this endearing city have given me so much. I’ve realized the power of being 100% present in everything I do, and this is especially easy to do while walking through a city as alive, constantly changing and dynamic as Barcelona. I’ve witnessed beautiful but also some of the most stark and troubling moments that are all a part of life, a reminder that life is just full and magical, we just have to see it that way. I’ve discovered quaint little gems in little winding corners. I’ve had completely connected conversations on a park bench, and shared spontaneous smiling hellos while crossing the street.... Barcelona is now a part of me, a part of my heart. And while home always has been and probably always will be an elusive concept for me, I think I finally understand what home feels like. Gracias Barcelona, gracias. 🙏
