Tasty’s Best Fudgy Brownies
Visual appeal: 9/10
Being a fudgy brownie lover (rather than a “cakey” brownie lover), this recipe automatically caught my attention. Tasty seems to be the new thing these days, but I’ve never made anything from them so I figured I’d give it a whirl. Although I had some issues in execution and experienced a very “Chopped”-like moment, I pulled it together and ended up making a variation of this recipe that turned out delicious!
Here’s what happened… I chopped up two 4-ounce semi-sweet chocolate bars as the recipe called for, but I microwaved the chocolate too quickly and it seized up into a useless piece of crap. Grrr… 🙄 (patience is a virtual people, for real) So, I figured I needed a plan B. I knew the chocolate in the actual batter was probably more important to keep the same than the chocolate chunks added later so I melted the second bar in a double boiler and it came out perfectly. For the chocolate chunks, I have my mother to thank. Right before my family moved out of state, my mom gave me a whole bunch of baking stuff that she had kept in the freezer. I dug around and found Andes Crème de Menthe baking chips! As a mint lover, this made perfect sense to me so I went for it and ended up loving the result. Thanks for saving my ass once again, Mom! Aren’t you glad you signed up for a lifetime of answering all my trivial questions?! 😂❤️ Anyway, this recipe knocked it out of the park with texture (in my opinion, since I love fudgy brownies). However, do make sure to bake them long enough. I had to bake mine longer than the recipe stated. Just use a toothpick to test when they’re done. It should come out with a few moist crumbs on it. As far as the flavor, two words: on point!!! Super rich though (which isn’t for everyone) so I gave it a 9/10 in that category. Time wise this recipe was super quick so 10/10 for that one. Last but not least, visual appeal was a 9/10. There was a nice shiny and flakey crust on the top of the brownies and I love the look of fudgy brownies, but again, not for everyone.
