Back by popular demand...beer cheese soup! Made from scratch with in-house made vegetable broth and featuring Caves of Faribault 2year-aged Fini Cheddar Cheese. We recommend it with a Jeff’s Select grilled cheese sandwich made with roast beef, house-made balsamic caramelized onions and Jeff’s Select aged Gouda.
Eggs can be for dinner too. Try a frittata with a side of microgreens. Pick up fresh eggs, cheese and microgreens at our next market Saturday, April 7th 1-4pm at @paradisecenterforthearts.
Despite the lovely snowstorm today, I was in town working my off-farm job. I made time to stop by the new storefront of Ruf Acres Market, our hometown health food store that supplies Graise Farm chicken and duck eggs. Owner Ramon @therealgrocer promotes community, local businesses, and food as your friend. We are proud to work with him and his team. For more info on this store check out the website. Link in bio.

Tiffany from @graisefarm the first supplier to visit our new shop!
Bring your family and your friends to meet local, artisan cheesemakers from Shepherd’s Way, Singing Hills Goat Dairy and CannonBelles, along with the Keepsake Cidery cidermaker. All four are from right here in Rice County and neighboring Goodhue County. This is happening this Saturday during the Faribault Winter Farmers’ Market. You can’t get more local!
These are a few of our favorite foods at the Faribault Winter Farmers’ Market held Saturday 1-4pm at the Paradise Center for the Arts in downtown Faribault. This is a food and farm product focused market. If you’re a cook or an eater, you’ll love it! And it’s located in our small town historic theater that’s holding a local artisan sale too. December 16 and 23 are the last two market dates of 2017. See you there!
Don't miss the last outdoor market tomorrow! There will be fall vegetables, baked goods, eggs, jams, jellies, artisan designs and pickles!
Are you looking for something to do next weekend? There are a few tickets left for Chef Camp MN. You show up to eat and attend cooking classes. The camp organizers do the rest. Enjoy amazing food made by local chefs and sourced from local producers and farmers like Graise Farm and Shepherds Song. Link for details in bio. @chefcamp
Clive's roadhouse offers the BEST chicken fried chicken I've ever had! A restaurant bar that offers American comfort food. They have the tastiest strawberry lemonade as well. 3 locations: Champlin, Burnsville, & Blaine.
Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, as the name of the chain restaurant entails, they are known for both their tasty Steakburgers and custards. I absolutely love their shoe string style French fries and the thin Steakburgers are surprisingly great! I recommend a visit definitely! They also carry and serve other goodies such as hot dogs and pickle fries!
A fun MN adventure. We spent our Sunday at Soundset listening to great music by artists such as atmosphere, common, prof, A$AP Rocky, the roots, and future just to name a few. How did you spend your memorial weekend?
Because it's been a long week. And it's Friday. And because it's prolly 5 o'clock somewhere. Cheers to the weekend (Sangria margarita on the rocks with a patron kicker -- too many goodness in one beverage)
This place just doesn't disappoint! Decided to try a few new items on the menu this time around-- ordered the clams in black bean sauce and the Hong Shao pork belly. The clams actually was a pretty large order and the black bean sauce was cooked to perfection. The pork belly was extremely tender, I felt like the sauce could have been more carmelized. (It was a little soupy/watery) but definitely overall both dishes were excellent!
Can never go wrong with a hot bowl of pho. Quang has been and will always be one of my favorite spots for pho. Where's your favorite place to grab Vietnamese pho?
I've heard many great things about Runyon's and they're award winning buffalo wings for 35 years! So I had to give it a try. AMAZING! The flavor was just right and the wings were juicy!!
So this was actually my first time trying the Oyster Rockefeller here at Stella's. I've gotten raw oysters all the time here but decided to give these a try. First off, the creole hollandaise sauce that is on the oysters is phenomenal. I did find that the spinach and bread combs just may be a bit overwhelming. Very cheesy flavors. Although it was very good, I'd prolly stick to my usual raw oyster bar when I come here. I'd give these a 3/5. ;)
Sunday fun day! Spent the day enjoying some sun on the rooftop of Stella's in Uptown Minneapolis. The rooftop was super busy and the bartenders were awesome as usual. We each got a mojito, the one on the left is the dragon mojito and the right one is the purple mojito. Both delicious! If you're a yelp user, be sure to check in on the app and you'll get a coupon for a $5 mojito (these are regularly $10). Not going to lie, we had about 4 rounds of mojito yesterday.
Uptown diner offers delicious comfort food. Whether you stop by for lunch after church or a quick bite after hitting the bars this place is a must! Food is made fresh to order. Give uptown diner a try, you won't be disappointed.
Our very own cheese and meat platter creation. Got a good sampling of different meats and cheese from a local shop. Also tried a few different wines made specially here in Minnesota.
You can never go wrong with taco taxi. Cheap, quick, and yet still very tasty! Pictured here is two different pork style tacos, one is pastor and the other is the carnitas! Honestly, not the best tacos I've ever had but it's still worth the stop for a quick bite.
Last night we decided to go on a mini food tour and we hit up a few different Mexican inspired restaurants. Our last and final stop was World Street Kitchen. Ordered the lamb belly tacos, the Korean short ribs yumyum bowl, and the Korean short ribs burrito. The yumyum bowl was my personal favorite; the mixture of flavor of sweetness from the meat, the spicy and sour from the kimchi and special sauce made it a very enjoyable dish. Would definitely come back again!
Today was a fried everything type of day... Fried chicken wings, French fries, fried mozzarella stick, fried gizzards, fried catfish nuggets, and fried shrimp.
I can't be the only one who likes to order a gazillion different appetizers in addition to my main entree. Must be the foodie in me. Seen here at Red Cow North Loop is an order of their Japanese sticky chicken wings and an order of nachos. Both were delicious starters to a wonderful meal.
Tried JK's Table located in Edina for the first time today for lunch and I must say, the wait was all worth it. I wish the picture was better so you can truly appreciated how tasty this was! Picture here is the spicy tuna bowl and the steam chicken gyoza. The spicy tuna definitely has quite a kick so it's great for those who love that extra heat. I ordered ahead of time for my pickup order and there was quite the wait. Worth it! 10/10!!!
Anyone else obsessed with Izzy's ice cream? They're located right off 2nd street near the Stone Arch Bridge and Mississippi River. (There's also a secondary location out in St.Paul.) Grab a cone and take a nice quiet walk along the river. They offer a wide variety of flavors including some "unusual" ones and a few "regular" flavors. Try some in a cone, grab a sandwich, or even a malt. During the summertime, the lines are long and usually out the door, but definitely worth the wait!
Q Fanatic was featured on food network's Diners, Drive in, & Dives. Well known for their delicious slow cooked BBQ and homemade BBQ sauces. They also offer a selection of craft and local beers. You may do take out or enjoy your delicious BBQ in their diner style dining room.
After hearing so many great things about @sotarolusa, you know I had to give it a try. Sotarol offers a fresh, non gmo, & gluten free burritos. The burritos are wrapped in soy paper and are freshly handmade to order. Here, I tried the spicy crab & shrimp sorarito. DELICIOUS!
Smally's Caribbean BBQ located in Stillwater, MN was featured on Guy Feiri's Diners, drive ins, and dives. Well known for they're Caribbean BBQ. They offer an outside patio with great views along with gluten free dishes (ask for the gluten free menu). The triple six wings is a challenge everyone should take. The wings contain a molton ghost pepper with a hint of sweetness. THESE ARE HOT FIRE! They'll definitely make you tear up!
Since the walleye season opener is right around the corner here in Minnesota, I thought I'd share one of my favorite fish dishes. Fried walleye in meat sauce at Pagoda in dinky town. This dish is usually only available in large or extra large so bring extra friends or come extra hungry. One of my favorite ways to eat walleye. (If you're not a huge fan of the meat sauce do know that lots of Chinese restaurants have different styles and flavors of sauces for the fried walleye!)
Lemongrass located in Brooklyn Park, MN is what I always consider as the "hidden gem" of the suburbs of the Twin Cities. Specifically a Thai restaurant they make amazing Thai cuisine but also amazing sushi. Check them out during lunch being that they have a great lunch special (the wild curry lunch special as shown here includes both a salad and appetizer). Please note they do get super busy but worth the wait!
Spicy raw oysters at Sushi Tango in uptown. On Sunday's, they have all day happy hour with their oysters at $1/piece. When the weather is nice, be sure to get seated on their rooftop patio.
Leo's strawberry milkshake in Stillwater, MN. Their ice cream was delicious and perfect on a nice warm day. They have a window right off the street where you can order and pick up your dessert. I would definitely recommend a shake!
We had such a fun time with our small group during our short day trip to Stillwater, MN. Downtown Stillwater is filled with cute little shops and restaurants. We spent part of the day checking out various restaurants and bars (including Luna Rossa and their cave tour as pictured here) and even got to go fishing in the St Croix. Sunday Funday is always an adventure with these guys!
Our first official MN Eats and Adventure began in Stillwater, MN. The Stillwater Bridge is a vertical lift bridge crossing the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, Wisconsin. Stillwater is known as the "birthplace of Minnesota," being that the official convention to begin deliberation about making Minnesota an official state occurred here. Stillwater was a fabulous location for a short day trip just only 35 miles away from the Twin Cities.
My friend Alina and I decided that this summer would be a good time to start exploring Minnesota. We decided to combine the two things we love to do most – Eat and go on Adventures. We will be documenting our experiences both on our instagram (and soon—on our blog and youtube). Follow us as we journey to different areas of Minnesota both exploring and enjoying some good food and cuisine in the area. Feel free to tag us in places that you think we should explore or restaurants that you think we should try!
