One of the many things we do is helping set-up and refurbish apartment and workplace gyms.
The last two days has seen dismantling of old gear and putting in some brand new gear at an apartment complex on City Rd in Southbank.

Providing advice and consulting for this sort of stuff is fun and allows me to set-up gyms from a functional and best way to use space, save money and know that the equipment will be used. So many gyms are set-up with the old school โ€˜single-useโ€™ and isolated exercises such as a bicep curl, leg curl, leg extension, weighted an curl!!! It is no longer 1960!!! KEEPING THE NEW YEAR NEW YOU ON TRACK.

Most people know that to lose body fat you have to get in a calorie deficit and to accomplish that a salad or another lower calorie option would be a better choice than a takeaway or some other higher calorie option. Why is it that the higher calorie option still gets chosen time and again? This is a more complex question than it at first seems, many things factor in to your every day decisions, but one that we do have control over is habit. Are there certain habits that correlate with some goal destructive choices? For example shop on the way home from work that tempts you with a treat after a hard day, or a bottle of wine when you get home? If this is the case it may be worth trying to disrupt the habits and make new ones in order to stick to your fat loss plans. Why not try a different route home away from that tempting shop, or running a bath at the time you would open the wine to relax from work. It could make all the difference in keeping it together when will power feels like itโ€™s running low. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

Knees cave in, heels are elevated off the ground, hips rise early upon ascent, initiating movement with the knees - these are all common examples of issues you may have when performing the squat.

Check out the #youtube video where I show you how to perform a squat with proper form.
1) Create a shelf by squeezing your shoulder blades (scapula) together to unrack the bar
2) Even weight distribution
3) Toes slightly out may be helpful to achieve full depth
4) Perform a hip hinge to initiate the movement
5) Drive Knees Out
6) Ensure chest and hips rise together on the ascent
7) Squeeze Glutes at the top
8) Brace core for a punch - when lifting heavy weights!
