Semestern är över för många av oss och jag tror vi är många som tänkt tanken att man borde lämna kalla, mörka Sverige och flytta till solen och värmen 😎🏝 För många stannar det vid just en dröm, men min gäst i rykande färska avsnittet av @maratonpodden, @josefineswarm, gjorde verklighet av de drömmarna! Today was supposed to be a rest day (from running) but we were unable to run on Tuesday...So I kept it simple and light, but still challenging, with this quick track workout💙

I remember when I struggled to complete 10 miles for my Saturday long run just a few months ago. Now it’s my Thursday workout.
.
I was supposed to do a speed workout tonight, but I wasn’t sure the university or high school tracks would be open with football, soccer, and marching band in season. It was such great weather that I REALLY didn’t want to go to the Y and run on a treadmill. Instead, @beerdrinkingvegan and I decided to just run. And run we did. And it felt good. It was the run I needed.

For the past couple of weeks, I have had horrible workouts and my attitude toward running has been so negative. Last week, we skipped our speed workout and just ran 5 miles. We both had an awesome 10K race on Saturday. My head was back in a good place. My workouts all week have been amazing.
.
I’m so glad the weather has been so much more pleasant. The cooler temps make running so much better in the evenings. I can so tell that school is back in session, however. The college kids came back and traffic has picked up. I almost got hit by cars 3 times tonight ... and I was in the crosswalk all 3 times. I’m going to have to be more defensive as I run now.

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say #fuckyeah on the Instagram world 🤭🤭 But this run and body deserves the biggest fuck yeah there is! 👊🏻 When you are in constant pain or injured, you don’t take things for granted. You cherish all the days you succeed. Most importantly, you realize all that your body can do as a whole.
I’ve run progressions lots and lots of times. Even my last pace wasn’t to big of a deal a year ago. Tonight a 10:00, 9:40, and 9:22 progression run gave me the same satisfaction as my best half marathon. Progress is slow but it’s being made daily, both physically and emotionally.

This is my office. This is where I workout. This is where I dream big. I have a sign on left that says boss babe and a white board where I write motivational things. This week I wrote “I will go on diamond retreat.”

Two years ago I was working a job I didn’t like and didn’t feel like I was making a difference. Two years ago (in September) I said YES to living a healthier life. A few months later I quit my job to follow my dream... at that time it was to see my kids more and not have them in daycare 40+ hours a week.

At that time, my world was centered around my 4-yr-old and my newborn baby. And it still is! But I view motherhood differently now. I was told recently being a mother is a role we play, not who we are. I struggled with major anxiety being away from my 10-week-old. I struggled with being a mom in today’s world where we are told to work full-time, keep a clean house AND spend all of our time with our kids.

On this journey I have figured something out. For me, I can’t view myself as just a mom because I’m not! I’m a wife, runner, workout enthusiast, entrepreneur, health coach and so much more. My dream job has changed a bunch. I am working THREE jobs now but you know what...? I love each and every single one!

I work 50+ hours a week. I get about 6 hours of sleep a night. I still struggle with work/life balance but who doesn’t? I work from home, no hour long lunch breaks or 2 hours of commuting.

I can’t settle. It’s not in me to keep doing something I don’t love! I don’t have to work three jobs. I want to. I don’t have to workout or run 6 miles. I am living the life I have dreamed of.

I wake up feeling excited about my day. I wake up feeling worthy. I wake up knowing I will be productive and happy. All of this because I wasn’t happy and I decided to give a 21 day workout program a try! For real! 🙌🏻

I imagine where I would be if I was still using food to cope, having anxiety, working a job I didn’t love, not taking time for me! 😬 Be brave and take a chance on YOU!

Breaking my fast with delicious wild caught salmon topped with peach salsa and a side of quinoa salad.

Yesterday I was listening to a podcast (RuPaul: What’s the Tee with Michelle…, they are so much fun to listen to, you have to check them out!) and Michelle was talking about a peach salsa that was super simple and delicious. So of course I instantly start looking for a peach salsa recipe and voila! I don’t think my recipe was as simple as hers, but I’m confident it was just as delicious. The salsa and quinoa salad were a bit labor intensive bc of all the chopping, but definitely worth it.

Today the FASTer Way community is engaging in a 24 hour fast. The 24 hour fast might sound a bit intimidating, and maybe even a little extreme to anyone that hasn’t ever done one before, but it’s totally doable and the health benefits that follow make it totally worth it. The 24 hour fast allows our bodies to be at complete digestive rest. When the body isn’t focused on digesting food or burning it for fuel, we can then focus on other important bodily processes like cellular repair, aka apoptosis (normal cell death) and autophagy (the destruction of damage or redundant cellular components). This is why fasting is so powerful when it comes to reducing the risk of cancer and Alzheimer’s, because the damaged cells that contribute to these diseases are naturally being removed from the body. It also allows the body to burn extra glycogen stores and then dip into fat stores for it’s main fuel source throughout the day. Fasting helps with lipid metabolism, blood sugar levels, keeps insulin levels consistent, improves gut health and improves body composition.

P.S. I’m on day 4 of my gentle 10 Day Detox (and day 6 of ZERO coffee) and going strong! No intense sugar or junk food cravings, and surprisingly not one headache from no coffee. I also turned down delicious bakery fresh cookies without any hesitation at work today. It’s the little things. 😉👏🏼

For 2 weeks I’ve had migraines on and off. Originally I thought it was my contacts, so I’ve been trying to wear my glasses. 👓Today I had my glasses on pretty much all day. I ate REALLY well and drank a TON of water. 💦Right now I’m battling a migraine so bad I could cry, and I’m sooo nauseous. Then it hit me. 💥 I haven’t really had sugar in quite a few days. 🍭🍬🍫 the withdrawals are SO REAL! But if anything it’s inspired me even more to watch what I put in my body! Food is FUEL ⛽️

Tuesday, 8 miles of speed play 5 with the double stroller and my run squad, 3 solo. Wednesday, Rest day. Today, 4 easy miles with the double BOB and run squad, at conversation pace, which didn’t feel easy at all because I climbed a mile of rolling hills, but at least it was shady. Ava napped, Zoe looked for dragons, and snakes. Ever since, I came home from Martha’s Vineyard, I haven’t been able to readjusted to this suffocating August heat. My runs have been slow and sweaty, and I feel like I’m burning. I love summer, but I’m definitely looking forward to some cooler mornings. Fall is coming and it’s a stunner. This weekend a 15 miler is on the schedule!
