You’re weighing yourself obsessively and you’re judging progress by your scale weight alone. It’s driving you crazy.

You don’t understand why your weight hasn’t gone down every day. If that isn’t bad enough you feel miserable, devastated even, because your weight went up by 100g/3.5oz even though you just did a ton of cardio.

If the above sounds like you then ditch the scales.

It’s obviously got an unhealthy hold over you and it's negatively impacting your day and life. It’s time to move on. You don’t need that kind of relationship or stress in your life. .
It’s not even a good way to measure progress for you. .
Instead, you should stay consistent and patient with the basics such as staying in a calorie deficit, eating 0.7-1g of protein per pound of bodyweight, strength training, a little cardio, quality sleep, etc.
.
You should also start measuring your progress differently. Use a tape measure, photos, how you feel, how much stronger you are and how awesome you’ve become to gauge how far you’ve come.

💥HOW BIG SHOULD YOUR CALORIE DEFICIT BE💥

You’ve probably been told that in order to lose a 1lb/0.45kg of fat a week you need to be in a 3500 calorie deficit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, it’s not too far off and for most guys that could be a good start. However, is it suitable for everyone?

Let’s consider a guy who weighs 200lbs/91kg and a petite female who weighs 120lbs/54.54kg with maintenance calories of 2800 calories and 1680 calories, respectively.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you apply the 500 calorie deficit for both people based on their maintenance calories you would have an 18% deficit for the male and a 30% deficit for the petite female.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, you’re smart enough to know that that’s a big difference percentage wise.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, even though they are both on the same calorie deficit the fact that the percentage calorie deficit is much larger for the petite female means she is going to have it a lot tougher. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She’ll struggle more with energy levels, cravings and all the other problems that I’ve listed in the image above.

So, is it really wise to blindly follow a 500 calorie deficit? What do you think?

Nourish Bowls - the finer details 🥗💚 A few of you couldn’t hear what I was saying so here it is 🤗
💚 Bag of baby leaves
💚 12 sweet potato falafels
💚 500g butternut squash
💚 1 full avo
💚 1 lemon
💚 200g soya beans
💚 50g pomegranate seeds
💚 Beetroot hummus

To answer a few of the most popular q’s:
✅Everything is from Tesco except for the falafels which are from Asda 🥗 ✅I thought the frozen avocados were ok - they went very soft so I ate it like guacamole- but a few people have written to me saying they didn’t like them... I prefer fresh but sometimes it’s not an option 🥑💃 ✅ The cals & macros on on yesterday’s post ✅ I’ll get the beetroot hummus recipe posted again tomorrow

Love me some loose floral sketches. Do you ever have an idea in mind for how something is going to turn out, wrestle with it for like forever, and then bust out something way better in a fraction of the time? I love when that happens. The wrestle teaches you so much, and then you are amazed at yourself for producing a final product you feel proud of, even though it’s so different from what you imagined. I had a professor in college tell us he would usually make 20 finalized pieces and only get 2 out of the group that he would actually sell, and he’d throw the rest away. At the time I thought that was a total waste of time, but I’m starting to see how valuable the wrestle is and how in art, it’s okay to change my mind and start over.

Let me share something I started my journey at over 215lbs ✨
Do you want to know my biggest obstacle? It was ME and my Mindset. ✨
I’m the ONLY one who stopped me. Because of fear, doubt, and not believing in myself enough to really follow through.
✨
I had many, many moments that I wanted to give up. There were days I cried because I felt I wasn’t losing the weight fast enough... Mindset! It needed some fine tuning.
✨
Weightloss, is not about a fast fix, teas, wraps...what good is all this if you don’t get out of your own way and realize that this is a lifestyle. That your nutrition is equally important. That it’s not about giving up on things but balancing and portioning. That believing in yourself and having faith in you will take you further than any pill will. ✨
Patience was key, faith in myself, and slowly even though I still had fear, following through even on those days that I wanted to give up.
✨
Don’t sell yourself short, don’t settle for less than you deserve in anything you do. Hard things are not meant for you to give up but to challenge yourself and to build your character.
