—— Reading a goodnight story to the Neverending Story characters, Atreyu and Falkor, in my sketchbook.
Apparently, Falkor, the luckdragon, enjoys sleeping while flying. This posed a challenge for me, since I don’t fly. So, he handed me a ginormous helium balloon and placed the book on the back of a strong bird and I read away!
I also told them that I had to have a flower/plant in my daily art. Atreyu suggested the Secret Garden because they have 2 boy characters besides Mary Lennox.
They were both so happy to hear a different story, they sent me a thank you card. Falkor, the Luckdragon, even signed his name with a paw print. The empress ‘Moon Child’ (from the book) would be so proud. ——
A larger painted version will be tomorrow’s daily art soon! This sketch was done without reference and without having seen the movie in years. So, of course, I’ll have to watch it while I paint.
The book is highly recommended and has more to it than the film version. (Although, they did make a few more lower budget movies past the first one).
———This is number 12/100 for my daily project of ‘portraits and plants’/‘faces and flowers’. I have about 100 days of art til I celebrate a year of daily art! To be more organized, I thought of the 100 day challenge.———
277 days of art everyday.
