というように、前・後へと重心の位置を変えて

スウェーバック姿勢という姿勢になりやすくなります😖😣.
そうすると、本来なら伸びてないといけない膝が伸びにくくなったり、腰や首が痛くなったりというような痛みや違和感につながります😭😭.

📢One of fav unilateral movements for hitting lats. I tend to cue this as allowing the lats to stretch under tension w/o complete elbow extension followed by driving my elbow "down & in" toward PSIS (posterior pelvis). This cue along w proper mind-muscle connection allows for a greatly shortened lat as there is slight lateral spinal flexion (driving elbow inward furthering adduction) paired w deep shoulder extension. The contraction is sweeeeeet.
ℹ️The 'sweeping' mvt & driving of the elbow on this exercise can definitely be translated to regular DB single arm rows for the same controlled lat contraction.

How many of you like black coffee?
Off late I have been experiencing the stimulating effects of black coffee without sugar. And no milk of course.
Conscious food and beverage habits determine how well you can move through the day.
Our mornings usually comprise of our old habits like getting up and grabbing sugary juices or hot milk beverages like tea and coffee. .
Milk is said to have caused inflammation as well as mucous formation in most infants and adults. This is regarding milk sourced from animals especially because it contains the protein called mucin. If you cut off dairy, you experience improvement from ailments like fatigue and congestion in nose and chest and dry cough. .
Coffee in its black form is also a great stimulant with source of good fats which helps in reducing the bad cholesterols.

Words are emerging, slowly. I have just landed in Ubud after 6 weeks of leading and learning the art of living yoga and living human on Gili Trawangan. There is so much to say- so much nectar to share from coming full circle back home to sacred space at @giliyoga. I closed a month long Yoga Teacher Training and welcomed in the @authenticrelatingtraining Leadership Course the following day. I am so full, so nourished, so grateful and blessed. And I am giving myself a soft landing because, coming down.
So for now:
Quiet please
this is a whisper zone
where mysteries can weave
tapestries of silence
out of voluptuous clouds
that inch their way across the sky

Shh
Slow down
this is a playground
where child-like innocence
has the right-of-way
and is free to stay
unafraid and sprawled
across empty patches
of damp grass

The feedback you get from the wall closing the chain, or the feedback you can receive from a skilled teachers hands, are similar to how the bands provide feedback around the borders of the body to be able to connect more fully to your center.

(You guys, can we pause for a moment so I can just say how happy I am that I managed to clear my practice space (that’s a Murphy bed to the right of me btw) and practice in my home yesterday! Eli is sleeping just out of camera range. It took a long time to make this happen but it was oh so satisfying!)

Tonight I went for my first run in the cold since my back injury (L5/S1 disc herniation) last fall. The run turned out to be about 40% running, 20% aerobic fitness play, 20% handstand training, and 20% spontaneous dance party. 100% outdoors in the below freezing NYC winter❣️ I’m gonna be posting more of my health and fitness journey on my business account @shamanshalom so if you haven’t done so already please follow me there🙏🏼

Got pain or difficulty going overhead? Give the landmine a try!

Instead of pushing through pain, or just not doing it at all, we like to find ways to modify and work around things to keep a training effect while working to improve overhead mobility & control. If you get shoulder pain or tightness with pressing, the landmine is a GREAT way to keep training overhead when you're having these issues with traditional overhead pressing.

The half-kneeling set-up shown here has a few distinct advantages:
--
🍑Improves active hip extension on the bottom leg
⚡️Strengthens the connection between ribcage and pelvis for better midline control
💪🏽Facilitates scapular upward rotation and serratus anterior activity to drive better overhead positions
--
The video shows two isometric variations, but you can progress to more traditional sets/reps after mastering these positions. Practice holding these positions for 4-5 full breaths, reaching a little more with each exhale.

1️⃣Half-Kneeling Landmine Reach: this is a good starting point
.
2️⃣Half-Kneeling Landmine Reach w/ Lean: once you've mastered 1️⃣ then lean forward a bit to drive more overhead motion but KEEP REACHING!

Peep the video for key cues to think about. Biggest mistakes we see are arching the back and letting the ribs flare.
