Half marathon #17 and my first Mississippi race did not disappoint. I slacked off big time with my training, so I'm thankful for my time of 2:17:59. I honestly thought I would run a personal worst going into this race. It was a beautiful course with gulf views the entire time. I loved seeing Insta friends Katie, Jenny, Tricia, Rick, and Jodi again and meeting a new Insta friend, Kyla. It was also great to see Valerie from back home. Congrats to everyone on your race today! Sometimes, my movement practice is more of an experiment, and one which I don’t plan. Programming is super important, but I believe that it is best to balance it out with some spontaneous movement and workouts that are more about exploring a tool.
Today I took out my resistance bands and played with some movements. And I can’t remember the last time I did bicep curls, but for some reason today I felt inspired to pump lol!
Have fun, especially on your rest days/freestyle days. It’s always a good idea to try some things that you don’t usually do and revisit them. Maybe I love #bicepcurls now? Nope...but I don’t hate em!

I always like to look for new products while I’m shopping, and I found something unique on my most recent trip to @target: algae oil from @thrivealgae.

Believe me I am skeptical of many products, but the price was comparable to avocado oil ($11/liter v. $10/liter) and the smoke point and fat ratios are better than that of avocado and olive oil (algae oil is mostly monounsaturated fats).

When I tried it at home, I figured this would taste like death, but it really has no taste at all, which is great! I don’t want to have the oil I use to cook overpower the taste of the food. I have use it in frying up veggies, and cooking my eggs and this stuff is legit.

Last day in Mexico, movement shenanigans!

Today I fly to Los Ángeles! I honestly have to pinch myself that after 2 incredible months in Mexico it’s finally ending. I admit I’m feeling a little bit anxious... so what better way to use that energy than with some super playful not-at-all-perfect locomotion movement... a little friend even decided to join in!

Consciousness is super important in this life. There is nothing wrong with feeling anxious. It is almost a call to action... anxiety can provide a drive... a drive to do something or act.
It often comes in times of change or when the unknown is present... for me that’s now.
My best way to get through it is to acknowledge it, accept it and use the ‘energy’ to stimulate happy endorphins... by moving!
Find your path. Find your peace. Be conscious... and move lots Hahahaha.

🔥ACTIVE RECOVERY CIRCUIT🔥

Sometimes doing a lighter active recovery day can be beneficial to kick starting your recovery so long as it's mostly resistance and really light weight. It gets blood pumping to all the muscles and assists with lymphatic fluid movement.

My thoughts have been pretty freakin negative and defeating my entire life. I am becoming more aware of them (because they are sneaky af and so automatic) and learning how to reframe and shift my thoughts.
It is helpful but it’s a process and a slow one at times, just like physical training. Sometimes it feels Im making no progress or even reverting back to old habits. But this is where the magic happens... when I catch that thinking and realize, I have a choice. I can continue forward, ask myself how I want to feel and proceed accordingly👍🏼👍🏼😊 :

Not everyone can easily get down on the floor so I transferred Day 8 - Rock and Roll into a chair.

The chair does limit your ability to roll back and up but it still gives you a chance to move your spine and strengthen the core.
