Recheck your pigeon stretch! This is one of those stretches that good positioning can add a lot of bang for your buck with stretching your hip joint capsule and the surrounding soft tissue.
Major 🔑
1. Get that hip and knee in a straight line. If your tight like me you’ll feel a big time difference in that hip capsule.

2. Spine position. Lock 🔒 in core! Just like a deadlift, think hip hinge. Drive hips back and chest forward while maintaining a neutral spine!

3. Contract relax. Think about pushing down and into the surface with both knee and ankle. 5 second on and 5 seconds off should be fine 👌🏼 .

Try spending 2 minutes on each side and play with some of these modifications.
Remember everyone’s body is unique and some of these positions might be easier or harder for you. Moderation is key. 💥One of the best exercises to increase your overall hip mobility. Though, it is a super advanced and tough exercise and shouldn’t be attempted if you are not experienced with mobility exercises.-

💥The Cossack Squat also strengthens your core and will make your glutes and legs stronger. It will improve your overall range of motion, flexibility and mobility.-

1️⃣Stand with both feet together.
2️⃣Tighten your core and keep your body neutral.
3️⃣Step out wide with your left foot keeping both feet both facing forward.
4️⃣Keep the Right foot completely flat on the ground stretching out the right adductor.
5️⃣Twist the foot slightly and point the toes to the sky.
6️⃣Simultaneously, keep your upper body over your leg, looking straight, and when you twist.

Patience is the key to success!
Took a few months off from free squatting due to hip issues (from being silly). I began with squats to a box then ➡️to slow controlled squats with Isometric holds at the bottom to get comfortable. ➡️ Now full range, light to moderate load squats with a little speed to introduce power and getting comfortable dropping down so 🔜 I can start retraining my 🏋️️‍♂️ and oly movements.
I try to practice what I preach to my athletes I am working with to return to sport more resilient and better than beforehand!

Evening walk with the old man

4-5 times a week he’s out for 20-30 minute walk and so tonight I joined him for the stroll after my gym session

Great to see my dad of 75(ish) years old staying active and enjoying his exercise

Many health benefits for seniors:

@cavemancase took on the ultimate leg burning, heart pumping, gut testing endurance race (running, crawling, climbing). Over 400 people showed up to take on the 400 meter (¼ mile) ski jump in Whistler Canada. Our Future Proof Movement trainer Casey completed the climb in 6:29 minutes. And then after a break, went back for more (2nd time: 7:10).

Tip: Challenge yourself, but not at the expense of letting your movement technique go out the door. Of course every rep isn’t going to be perfect, just having the awareness to know and feel how your body is moving will help you to maintain better movement quality as you get more fatigued. Also, it will let you know when it’s time to accept that’s all you got for today before your form drastically declines. If you train with that balance of pushing yourself while you reinforce good training habits you will build your body up and make quicker progress. Have a great week and #trainsmart !

But on a serious note I get this question all the time so I figure it will benefit a lot of you out there. “What can I do while I rehab. Can I do this? Should I be doing this?..” This goes for more than rehabbing an injury, chronic pain counts too people! If you have back pain every time you squat, you should omit squats in the short term until you figure out WHY and correct it. Your body is a pretty great feedback tool, so listen to it!

In this industry there is a lot of crossover between professions; doctors, surgeons, physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, trainers, etc and each has their own opinion on what should or should not be done during a rehabilitation process. This little tip will take you a long way in determining what is right for YOU!

It sounds simple but you’d be surprised at how cloudy things get when so many professionals put in their two cents. So at the end of the day, listen to your doctor, listen to your physical therapist, trainer, whoever you are taking advice from. But always ask the question WHY (refer to last post on client education) and listen to the feedback your body is giving you, it can get pretty simple at that point 👏🏻

Nancy has been working hard with her #posture #rangeofmotion and #biomechanics based programming and is making great strides when using body weight and resistance bands. As you can see here, her brain goes back to old #bodymechanics when a different kind of load is introduced. This is the importance of #progression folks! We need to address things from a #fitness and movement standpoint based on where our body mechanics are at. If you do to much to fast, injuries will abound.

It was my sons 13 birthday yesterday so it was indulging time 😋Oh yeah three big ice cream scoops .
I’ll be 40 next year , someone said I’ve got some grey hair - so what do I think about it ?Honestly - I don’t care about things which I don’t have influence on.
So rather then stressing out - I do what I do on consistent bases - taking care of my training , nutrition and my body it’s saying thank you as I feel same way as when I was twenty years old. Conclusion?
