So, I met someone incredible today.
Last Tuesday, Aria and her mom came into the salon, and I unfortunately wasn't there at the time. They had read the Star Tribune article the day before, and drove over to Steller hoping to meet me.
Aria is diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, and Tuesday was the 5 year anniversary of having her colon removed (same surgery as me) so we are "twinning" in the crappy intestine category.
I was able to meet Aria today, and do her hair!
I can count on one hand the amount of people I know who have my diagnosis, and have also had the same surgery as me (colectomy). It was awesome being able to talk about J-pouches, humira, our aversion to gatorade, colonoscopies, and what our "hospital hobbies" were. I would never wish this illness on ANYONE, and at the same time meeting someone who "gets it" was such a unique and emotional experience.
Definitely a moment I am not going to forget. (Also, I just so happened to have a stuffed colon in my car, and it felt right to pass it on to this lovely lady ♀️)
