Stoked to have this plant back ❤️ I had one hanging a few years ago and was so sad when it suddenly died.. especially after seeing how much it grew in the summer 😭 • • • • ALSO this pot is a $2 Goodwill find! It had black marks but they came off easily after rubbing with a wet paper towel + baking soda (this works wonders for coffee/tea stains too!) • • • • #muehlenbeckia#muehlenbeckiacomplexa#angelvine#maidenhairvine#creepingwirevine
The Kumara gardens looking fabulous @hamiltongardens all the tupu planted in the mounds.
Te Parapara gets it's name from the Pre European settlement that is now Hamilton Gardens. The raised food storage house is a Pataka. The triangular shaped one on the ground a traditional rua Kumara (storage pit). Under the Pataka is native plant Muehlenbeckia (there are 5 varieties this is the lower creeping variety). I'm wondering if it is there as a companion plant to the Kumara? It's a fantastic wildlife plant the white sugary fruit attract birds and lizards 🦎🦎🦎 Copper butterflies love all 5 varieties and lay their eggs amongst the vines. It's also a useful plant to over 100 more moths and butterflies including Yellow Admiral butterflies. Have any of you used it as a Kumara companion plant?
Delicate and eye-catching, unruly and pliable, this versatile wire vine has become a favourite over the past few weeks! Great for trailing bridal bouquets and structured wreaths alike!
Thanks for the action shot @jordans_courtyard ! Stylish planted designs for Jordan’s Courtyard which we installed in the week. Plus, Marika with our planter installed for The gift barn @jordans_courtyard back in the summer. -
Our Muehlenbeckia complexa is thriving in our office environment. Also know as Pōhuehue, Muehlenbeckia complexa is a host species for copper butterflies where they lay their eggs on Muehlenbeckia species only. They also form a rare and unique Vineland ecosystem in the Nelson area and their white fruit is a favoured food source for native lizards and skinks. It’s fantastic to have ecologist in our office to provide these gems of knowledge #landscapearchitecture#ecology#muehlenbeckia#muehlenbeckiacomplexa
November makes me feel like such a sad bastard. But one of the upsides of this bleak month is being able to walk on a bed of crunchy leaves (see second photo) as the trees go bald. Indoors, the foliage remains the same. It’s a solace being surrounded by all-season greenery. . Oh hey, here’s a houseplant of mine. This Muehlenbeckia complexa reminds me of Solange’s hair. Sometimes I rearrange the wiry stems very gently, altering the plant’s shape. I feel like a wig stylist. . #MuehlenbeckiaMonday anyone? Anyone? *crickets* 😂😝 . . . . . #muehlenbeckia#wirevine#wireplants#angelvine#maidenhairvine#creepingwirevine#Solange#wigstylist
