The gym is a lot more than a place for pushing, pulling and squatting.
Instead, the gym can be seen as a miniature cosmos where we can make contact with our deepest feelings - feelings of fear, anxiety and despair.
It's an arena where we can tackle these deep feelings head on and prove that we have what it takes to conquer them.
But the gym is also a place where we can test the assumptions we have made about ourselves and the stories underlying them. It calls on us to respond to the greater struggles of life, of adversity and pain and insecurity.
In some ways, the gym even asks us to show who we really are - are we the kinda people who half-ass the tasks ahead of us, or do we keep pushing even when it looks like we're going to fail? In essence then, the gym is a testing ground for the body, mind and soul.
Through these trials in the gym, we can gain the discipline and resilience which help us with our life as whole. Because the way to do 1 thing, is often the way to do everything - give it your all and don't give up.
So as you can see, the gym is
much more than just a place for working out, but it's a refuge from the chaos around us. It is truly
more than just a place which gives us more muscle and strength, but when you use it correctly, it can also give us more life.
