One thing I’ve learnt is that I can’t afford to wait until I feel inspired, before heading to the studio. (Steven Pressfield, author of The War of Art. says that this is the difference between an amateur and a professional). If I put myself in the space physically and mentally, whether I feel like it or not, creative flow almost always follows. Turning up to work consistently leaves little room for the resistance and procrastination monkeys to weasel their way in! I’m just back from a wonderful weekend with my peeps, refreshed and restored and raring to go (well, I will be tomorrow). Time is ticking away for Open Studios (7-15 July) and I’m hoping for a productive week in the studio. I will be in there tomorrow, however the creative vibes are feeling, leaving the monkeys at the door!
