today I wanted to share one of my late Mother’s drawings since she’s been weighing heavily on my mind..
She was an amazing artist, but she never took credit for any of her pieces. She never signed her art, she said they weren’t hers to sign, she only referenced what the pieces were. This one is referenced as “Gaffelbok”, Dutch for Pronghorn.
I still remember as a little girl waking up in the middle of the night, seeing her sketching/drawing by candlelight; and knowing what I know now, I understand she was practicing automatic drawing/writing.
Known as; Spirit Artist, Psychic Art, Automatic Writings.
A Spirit Artist is a medium who upon linking with Spirit is influenced to draw, paint, carve, sculpt or mold art by spirit. Most often this takes on the form of portraits being done of people who have died. Others specialize in drawing people's angels and spirit guides.
Psychic Art is a part of mediumship which is considered to be a physical phenomenon. It is where the spirit takes over the medium to produce drawings or it can also be in the form of writings and materialization.
During the time of the Spiritualist movement in the mid-1800s, automatic writing was accepted as a way for psychics and even ordinary people to connect with the spirit world. It is also known as “spirit” or “trance” writing and it continues to be a widely used divination today. Many people practicing this divination claim that as the spirit or entity sends messages through them, it feels as though the spirit is moving the arm and hand over the paper (which I actually witnessed)..
Sparking my curiosity, I also wanted to know more about the symbolism of the Pronghorn. Turns out, their symbolism is rich with psychic energy, as their horns do not shed and these horns symbolize an antenna attuned to psychic energies at the crown for receiving sacred wisdom and guidance.
No words.. just WOW!
For me, reflection is extremely important, and I felt the need to share something I found extremely fascinating about a woman who meant the world to me, my Mother..
Wishing you all a fantastic Thor’s day!
