I had a whole post written about this image of our dining room but my computer has crashed twice and now my app isn’t working. so...I’m putting this tired head to bed!
This is Sri Lanka's oldest light station dating back to 1848, but the original 24.5-metre-high (80 ft) lighthouse built by the British was located about 100 metres (330 ft) from the current site; however, it was destroyed by fire in 1934. The existing 26.5-metre-high (87 ft) lighthouse was erected here in 1939. The original light was furnished with a glass prism lens floating in a bath of mercury (to reduce friction) and was powered by a weight driven machine.
Doesn’t it feel glorious starting the day knowing it’s going to be warm and sunny? I’m even wearing a short sleeved top - unheard of for June!
Anyway, these are my lovely bright blue bar stools. Note the wooden tops - I was worried my bahookie (Scots word for bum) would get cold on the metal version!
Just a little slice of colour, peeking through from the hallway into the sitting room. I picked up these “Map of Days” @perry_grayson plates from the @nationalportraitgallery shop - they really draw you in to engage with the detail.
The checked throws on the twin beds came from @restorationyarddcp in Dalkeith Country Park, one of my favourite places. The cafe and the restaurant serve delicious food, children love running around Fort Douglas and the shop stocks gorgeous clothes, things for interiors and other lovely bits and bobs, very much in the mould of Ireland’s fabulous @avocaireland
Hard to believe that this was just a gaping hole in the wall not so long ago. At least the days of ripping out and selling off original Georgian features should be long gone. And we found this beautiful fireplace hidden under layers of gloss in the room next door which was a near perfect fit!
Picked up a new mirror for the twin bedroom, then had an emergency DIY dash when I realised it needed drilled in fittings and I do not yet have complete mastery of my drill. Alternatives worked, but I really must brush up on my power tool skills. #edinburghapartment#edinburghholidaypad#igersedinburgh
Feeling blessed (and exhausted) after a week spent in Florida with my new 3 week old nephew and 4 year old niece! My sis makes some pretty fabulous children. It’s always hard leaving all of them but so good to be home. Now to get back into the swing of things!
Today is Day 7 of #myhomethismonth, hygge. I seen so many articles telling us how to pronounce it all with different phonetics. I think the most popular I’ve seen is hue-gah. Anyway I’m now sat in the corner of my sofa with a lovely coffee, fire on and furry blanket on my knees, enjoying a little quiet time after putting up the 1st item on what is to become my gallery wall left to see him in his new home. The OH has taken the puglets for a (hopefully) long walk in the bright but flipping cold afternoon while I’m snuggles here warm, cosy and content with my first ‘gallery’ piece
