These pictures were taken at a local park tucked between the buildings surrounding it, a place where dragonflies flit across a sunlit pond and frogs sit on the giant leaves of the Indian lotus. These huge flowers seem to almost capture the light in their cupped petals and hold it there. When I sit here in the dappled shade of the huge trees above, I feel like I'm watching a whole other world.
All parts of sacred lotus are edible, with the rhizome and seeds being the main consumption parts. Traditionally rhizomes, leaves ,and seeds have been used as folk medicines, Ayurveda, Chinese traditional medicine and oriental medicine.
