1) Squid ink semolina spaghetti w/spanner crab, zucchini flowers & garlic
2) Dessert spread: passionfruit sorbet & amaro creme; milk chocolate, jersey milk ice cream, buckwheat & Pedro Ximenez caramel; mandarin, chamomile & yoghurt frozen slice & marshmallow
With the overkill that is the $130 lobster pasta (yesterday's post), a $38 spaghetti is tame. But I also think it's the better dish, even as the two aren't directly comparable. Dare I say do as we do - get both?
Speaking of overkill, I never really got into the whole dessert wine thing: sugar rushes don't stack well with me, but we went there anyway (I swear, being in Newport makes you do funny things). The desserts were enjoyable - particularly the mandarin slice (which tasted like a luxe Weiss bar). The passionfruit sorbet was similarly refreshing; however, those seeking a truly refreshing number will have to head for the jersey milk ice cream: perfect for some, edible diabetes for others. Again, Newport. Gotta do what you gotta do #ISHBerts
