It must have been 2011 or 2012.
The groom was introduced to me by a close friend, they went to the same church.
I just started my food service company and was very anxious to build a clientele base. So, a wedding in Abuja was a good thing to add to my portfolio.
I met the groom and his bride; we discussed menu and agreed on price. The agreement was full payment before wedding. Later, he made payments remaining N50,000.
One week to wedding, I called him for the balance, he promised to send it by thursday before his wedding. Thursday came, he said he was busy running around and he had the cash but can't go to bank to pay to my account. So, I should please trust him to give me the money at the venue. I agreed.
Wedding day came, I went to serve at the reception. Even his wife's people packed food to take to hotel after guest have finished eating. At the end of the event, I went to the groom to ask for my money. He did not have it. Another set of excuses.
To cut the long story short, it took almost 3 months before groom paid me my balance N50k. I had to call my friend who introduced us to intercede in the matter.
LESSON LEARNT. Since that event, it's full payment before execution. The only exemption is reputable corporate organizations. Remember, even corporate organizations owe too o. So be careful which one you do jobs for.
