INGREDIENTS
3 zucchinis
Cooking spray
3/4 lb. chicken breast cut into cubes
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
3/4 cup pasta sauce
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 400°F.

To prepare the zucchini, cut the zucchini in half lengthwise, then use a spoon or melon baller to scoop the center flesh and seeds from the zucchini. Repeat for the remaining zucchini.

Place the zucchini in a baking dish or cookie sheet cut-side up and lightly coat with cooking spray. Place in the pre-heated oven for 15 minutes until the zucchini cooks slightly and becomes tender.

Meanwhile, to prepare the chicken, heat the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken along with the seasoning, salt and pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through. Add the pasta sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Scoop the chicken mixture into the zucchini boats. Top the chicken with parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese. Return the zucchini boats to the oven for 5 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Sprinkle with fresh basil and parmesan cheese, if desired, and serve.

One pound down! 4 and half to go. I still have over 2 months to go. Ultimately I'm reaching for 120. Which is still on the 'high side' for weight at 5'0. I've never been 120. Well maybe as a kid once haha.

My fitness partner and I were taking about how simple it is to lose weight. Burn more calories than you eat. Basically the saying of 'eat right and exercise'

But then it's difficult to maintain weight because so many different formulas on how many calories you need to maintain a certain weight. Some have a difference of 500 calories a day.

Math isn't always the answer. Because according to the math. I eat 1000 a day and burn 2500 total. That's an excess of 1500 calories a day that I've burned. Times that by 7 days a week and divide it by 3500 which is the amount of calories a pound of fat is. Answer... 3. Which means I should have lost 3 lbs. Not just 1.

Our bodies are machines but they are not calculators. There are so many variations. One formula isn't just gonna give you the answer.

Just put in hard work! Push yourself until you wanna cry. And eat good healthy nutrition foods daily. A well planned strength & conditioning class. Now I can’t tell you how many “calories” your going to burn in this session because of a few things... 1. I don’t know your height & weight
2. I don’t know your resting or peak heart rate.
3. I don’t know how physically fit your are.
4. I don’t know how many calories you’ve eaten that day of training.
5. I don’t know how hard your going to push yourself.
6. Are you wearing a heart rate monitor?
All these factors play a part on how many calories your are going to burn in a session. So for those who plan a session based on how many calories burnt per session must have a lot of scientific evidence of every single person attending that class... Now at PWR we don’t track how many “calories” you burn... we track your development. Development on technique... (because let’s face it for some that have joined from coming else where has been horrific). Track your strength/ progress and most importantly we repeat the same sessions.
I believe this is the best way to track your progress. If you are always trying to make it different or just simply making your members do endless amounts of shit reps... HOW are you going to record progress?

Portion control has been key to me loosing and maintaining weight loss. It’s been the one thing on my health and wellness journey I’ve been able to control - even when I’m out of control 😆

Using my “tiny” color coded containers has helped me stay on track with my macros without allll the calculating. I did they before it was exhausting!! I’m all about great results at my convenience and without all the extra math 😂

Meal plans DO NOT work for long term weight loss results.⁣ ⁣

How many times have you signed up for a program that includes a meal plan? I tried many.⁣ .
Meal plans seem like a great option. It sounds easier to just be told what to eat, rather than having to make our own choices, right?⁣ ⁣
.
BUT what happens when the meal plan ends? We can't stay on the meal plan for the rest of our lives. ⁣ ⁣
And what happens when we go on holiday? When its Christmas? When we have an unexpected work trip and have to eat on the go and at hotels? Then we are screwed. We can't stick to the meal plan so it’s all out the window and we just go back to square one.⁣ ⁣

The problem with meal plans is that they tell you what to eat, but they don't teach you HOW to eat... and they don't provide you with support and accountability.⁣ ⁣
.
They are also usually not matched to your personal taste preferences and may not suit your lifestyle and they become friggen BORING...so it ain't gonna stick for long!⁣ ⁣
.
I remember signing up for one popular 28-day program with a meal plan...when I downloaded the ingredients list it was 6 pages long and half of the stuff I had never heard of before! It was going to cost a FORTUNE to stock up on all of the weird shit required. I threw in the towel before it even began.⁣ ⁣
.
So, when I chat to someone about my program (The Balance 90/10 Method) and they ask me "do I get a meal plan", the answer is.... absolutely NOT. This would be a disservice to you because it does not set you up for long term sustainable results, and that is what matters most. ⁣

I gauge my success as a nutrition coach on whether someone leaves my program completely self-reliant and confident in their own food choices.⁣ ⁣
So, instead of signing up for another meal plan that won’t last, you could learn how to eat in a healthy and balanced way no matter what the circumstances, so that you can roll with the punches of life. This means you will never be “starting again on Monday".⁣

I ended up completely exhausted from doing this myself, I gained weight, I was unhappy with my body, shopping for clothes gave me anxiety, and let’s not even talk about the idea of putting on a bathing suit. I was struggling mentally, physically and emotionally and my digestion issues were getting out of control. I was sleeping terribly, I felt like sh*t - but more importantly I didn’t feel like myself anymore.⠀

I did some research, sought out medical advice, and although it had been in front of me all along, I finally decided to do my first 30 day challenge. You guys - my life has been forever changed. Cliche I know, but hear me out! 💁🏽‍♀️⠀

I learned sooo much over those 30 days. You cannot turn on the TV, scroll through social media, or get together with friends without being confronted with the latest and craziest diet fad. Diets are $1 billion industry; companies spend millions and millions trying to get us to try the latest and greatest way of eating. ⁣

For many people, they cannot remember a time when they were not on a diet. Studies are now showing that young girls are starting to diet as early as the age of eight or nine years old. These young girls are being affected by the comparison trap shown on social media and being persuaded by older role models to consistently feel they are not thin enough. ⁣

Why diets only work for a short time: ⁣

Each person is uniquely created with different requirements for maintaining a healthy body. There are many factors that affect a person’s body needs. Including age, genetics, gender, and lifestyle. Therefore, what works for one may not work for another. ⁣

Diets are usually very extreme and restrictive. Most cannot maintain the limits for a long period of time and while a diet might work for a while research now proves that almost all diets result in a 10 pound gain once you quit. ⁣

𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: ⁣

We need to be educated in how to fuel our individual needs. We need to gain balance with the foods that we eat and the lifestyle that we are living.
