With the skiing season officially on in Norway, we’d like to remind you about the danger of avalanches.
Avalanches are masses of snow, ice, and rocks that fall rapidly down a mountainside. They occur when a cohesive slab of snow lying upon a weaker layer of snow fractures and slides down a steep slope.
Beautiful to witness from afar, they pose a threat to anyone on snowy mountainsides and can be deadly because of their intensity and seeming unpredictability.
To ensure safety, we highly advise checking avalanche forecasts before heading to the slopes. A link to the website with avalanche bulletins, as well as flood, landslide and weather warnings throughout Norway can be found in our bio.
Ski safely! 🙏 #skitouringnorway
