The day you held me in your hands for the first time, I know you made a lot of promises looking at that little one in your hand. Even though I didn't understand anything at that point, I too made a promise to you that day and it was to love you always. The child who used to cry in every person's arms, was smiling and laughing in yours because I knew you'll protect me always. You always stood by me in all my problems and left my hand even when all others left. Sacrifices you made for me always.
But you know what's the best part of all this?
I remember everything, I remember all your sacrifices, all your love and support. Probably I'll never forget them, even if I give you the best life in my power during your old age tenure. You always taught me to stand for yourself no matter who's on the other side. You taught me to protect myself and take care of your loved ones. Your teachings are embodied in my mind in such a way, that it'll die with me and not before that.
In a world full of female safety issues, you grew me up well enough to be safe and be protected. You always believed in me, then why is it that today you don't? Why is it that this broken world has made you stop me? You're the one who's always taught me not to give up and fight back. Then why is it that you've told me to stay home and abandoned all my parties and movies knowing that that's the only time I get after office. Don't you believe in your teachings? You always taught to fight back right? Why are you so scared then?
I understand your concern and fear, but curbing my desires and locking me up won't work. Mom says, I can do all these things after marriage with my husband, but you grew me as non dependent person. Then why do you feel that man will be able to protect more than I can protect myself? A request from your daughter to not lock her up because the world is bad, you've taught her enough to fight back and live in this world!
