I am all about the simple snacks with minimal ingredients when feeding two hungry kids. ⠀
I saw this recipe on @feastingonfruit ‘s Instagram and realized I had all of the ingredients and made them immediately!🤣I love blueberry muffins and these are such an easy little treat! 🙌🏻 This recipe could be adapted so easily too, with chocolate chips instead of blueberries and swapping the applesauce for banana. 😋

🌟The recipe is⠀
1/4 cup nut butter (I used homemade almond/pumpkin seed & Brazil nut combo) 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce⠀
2/3 cup @naturesheartsuperfoods coconut flour⠀
1/4 cup maple syrup⠀
1 teaspoon vanilla⠀
1/3 cup dried blueberries⠀

Put all these ingredients in a bowl and fully incorporate. Then roll into little balls and stick them in the fridge. And enjoy your treats in a couple of hours!⠀

I’ve heard many say, “I want to [lose weight, gain energy, & feel good], but I don’t know where to start.”
Well! Here’s a few steps to get you on your way!!

1. Determine what the WHY is behind your goal.
What do you gain by achieving your goal? What does it enable you to BE and/or DO that you are currently limited by?
Without a strong why, your goal is merely a goal.

2. Identify what’s holding you back.
In order to experience true change and transformation, we have to take an honest look at what keeps us from experiencing what we want. To ignore it, to pretend it’s not there is to set yourself up for a short term endeavor, rather than something that lasts.
3. Visualize what life will be like when you’re living your healthiest life, having accomplished your goals.
Get REALLY clear with this! Make it so real in your mind that THIS is what you see when you are making choices on a day to day basis. A strong vision can pull you forward in nearly every circumstance.

4. Powerfully and intentionally choose to pursue a healthy lifestyle.
Most people don’t do this! We just say, “Well, I guess I’ll give it a try.” And hope that works. We need to be intentional and specific about what we are COMMITTED to making happen. It doesn’t mean perfect. It just means that this is something you’re seriously after.

5. Enroll support!
We are not made to function alone. We need support and we need coaching. I have multiple cooaches in 4 different areas of my life. I’m not here to stay stagnant, and so I know I need that extra accountability and insight to grow!

Today I began Day 1 of a plant based cleanse developed by Dr. Furhman. This is breakfast. Very refreshing and filling.

About 8 years ago, maybe more, I was misdiagnosed with RA. That’s when I began my healthy journey. At that time it was determined that my body just can’t process sugars. The result was extreme edema in my left arm and hand. Since then I’ve done my best to live a healthy, clean diet while being realistic that on special occasions like my birthday, I will eat cake. .

More recently I decided to give the nutritarian diet another try with the goal of limiting meat to 2 times a week. The research behind a plant based nutrition plan and its health benefits have helped me to realize that this is what I need for my body, my life. I am on the low end of being borderline diabetic. It’s hereditary. So to counter my genes, I’m going to begin this plant based journey and see where it leads. If you are pre-diabetic or even diabetic I highly recommend reading The End of Diabetes by Dr. Furhman. It’s a good read and very educational.

Pre-prepped chopped salads are my saving grace on days when I'm running around too much to cook a big meal.
I keep a chopped base of "dry-ish" ingredients like celery, carrots, sugar snap peas, and slaw mix, and then when I'm ready to serve it I add the "wet" ingredients and fun toppings.
Some days are more exciting than others, but this one had cucumber, zucchini, cherry tomatoes For these things I just chop quickly in a big wooden bowl, add a handful of fresh spinach, and chop again. Then I top with things I don't necessarily want to chop in: blueberries, chick peas, pumpkin seeds, and avocado.
I top with my fav flavored balsamic vinegar and I'm good to go!

Ch-ch-ch-changes 👊🏽Meat and dairy are out. Plants and water are in.
Those appear to be the biggest takeaways from the newest version of Canada’s Food Guide, which was released Tuesday by Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor.
It puts more focus on what, when and how we eat, and less on food groups and servings. It gives clear, concise advice that everyone can easily apply to their everyday lives,” Petitpas Taylor said at the guide’s unveiling event in Montreal.
One of the most notable changes is the elimination of the four traditional food groups, which had been part of the federal government’s nutrition advice, in one form or another, since 1942.
Whole grains, vegetables and fruits are still listed as an integral part of a healthy diet, but the traditional focus on the likes of meat and milk is gone in favour of the broader category of proteins.

There is a specific recommendation that Canadians consume plant-based proteins “more often” and cut down on their intake of processed meats and saturated fats, which can contribute to cancer, diabetes and other diseases.
Recommended proteins in the guide include “lentils, lean meats, fish, unsweetened milk and fortified soy beverages.” Meat and alternatives had previously been a separate food group, as had milk and alternatives.
The new guide also places a heavy emphasis on water, saying it should be the “beverage of choice” for Canadians. Coffee, tea, lower-fat milk and plant-based beverages are listed as other options, though less preferred.
