We have a statement of priorities, values, and expectations of all our online coaching members. This is value number one.

You’ll drive yourself crazy trying to be perfect. Honestly, the only way I learned to deal with my own anxiety is to focus on “what is the next step within my control.” See the mountain and then walk towards the trailhead.

But what happens when the next step isn’t clear? Do you get anxious again?

One really cool thing I’ve had the honor to witness is the “kaizen” method of constant improvement within the community of online coaching members.
The more experienced members have worked through obstacles with us and discovered their solution and can share it with the community. And then that idea builds and we find multiple different solutions to the same problem.

Each works in a different context.
Those solutions wouldn’t be illuminated without a team of people working in a common direction.

I speak for everyone at @beyondmacros when I say we really love the magic that happens in coaching! ❤️

Cold brew is the 🐐 ! Making a super simple tweak like this allows you to get the kick of cold brew, with the taste of a snickerdoodle cookie, and none of the guilt!

Mannn it’s Monday and we’re all starting off another week! I see a lot of customers walk through the door, I ask how they’re doing, often I get a “living the dream” or a “just another day” response accompanied by a tired sigh. Now you never know what someone’s going through, so I always try to do something to uplift their spirit. I usually just give em a quick reminder that they’re in here, able to afford a coffee and life is pretty good.

So if that’s your response when asked how you’re doing..

Just remember; you woke up today, took a breath of fresh air, were able to see yourself in the mirror, got in your car and drive to work with an able body. Life’s not so bad, be thankful for the little things. Wake up and practice gratitude, it does wonders on your attitude. -Alex☕️

Here is my Costco haul this week! Costco has some pretty great finds for macro friendly foods, budget friendly meat, and a great variety of produce!

What I always buy:
🍇 Fresh fruit & veggies! This week I bought cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, bell peppers, grape tomatoes, frozen berries, grapes, bananas, raspberries (stocking up for our 800g challenge!)

Protein:
🍖 meat I typically buy- pork tenderloin, ground turkey, chicken breasts or thighs, bacon
🥚 eggs & egg whites —— always!!!
🥩 beef jerky for travel.
🐓 deli turkey or chicken breast for a quick protein source
.
Carbs:
🍚 jasmine rice
🍠 sweet and white potato.
🍞 silver hills little big bread (blue packaging)
***for all you GF folks, northern bakehouse has great GF bread (in photo)

Extras this week:
🥞 kodiak protein pancake mix - just add water!
🍓 reduced sugar jam
🥜 peanut, cashew, or almond butter .
🍫 individually wrapped almond butter cups- easy to track/ easy for portion control

If your session is very intense, and long, then yes, you will have used muscle glycogen (carbs) that will need to be replaced before your next session for optimal performance⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

However, when this next session is important⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ohhh yes, look at all the bread, potatoes, and gravy!⠀

Hurricane Florence had me all over the place. We decided to make a beef roast in the crockpot and have one of my favorite family comfort meals as the "finish off what's left meal."⠀

While this meal might not appear "healthy" - it doesn't really matter. I hadn't had this meal in 4 years (not because I was avoiding it, just because it wasn't something that came to mind).⠀

Your meals aren't going to be ideal all of the time. That's okay. Figure out how to have balance and then make small improvements from there. Maybe it'll be 5 years before I have this one again. 🤷‍♀️ (I hope not.)⠀

Training Tip: You should alternate the order in which you train. If you are forever training strength before conditioning or vice versa you will never see how the other is pre/post fatigue. This doesn't have to be done too often but it is something that is worthwhile

Fact 1️⃣ Most trainees overly rely on stimulants.
Fact 2️⃣ Recovery is the most underrated training factor. 
Stimulants effectiveness reach a point of diminishing returns -sooner or later.
Over reliance on the fight or flight mode eventually causes an unfavourable shift. What happens is that, basically, catecholamines takes over and anabolic hormones signals get drowned.
This situation paves the towards what is called “adrenal fatigue” and burn out.
Note that your adrenals never really fatigue. It is a simplification and anthropomorphization that works well for the sake of comprehension.
What really happens is that the signal sent by the adrenals is no longer taken into account by the other cells. It is a phenomenon of resistance rather than a depletion.
At any rate, whatever the physiological intricacies, the solution for your fatigue and lack of energy does not come into pill form.
And as boring as it sounds, sleep is your best asset when it comes to potentiate anabolism.
For instance growth hormone peaks during the deepest phases of sleep and sleep quality significantly improves testosterone production.

Once problems are identified and solutions are found recurring thoughts are appeased. Also your subconscious ming will find other solutions for you while you sleep. Pay attention to your morning insights and even dreams. )

Looking for a lower carb dinner side? Try coconut cauliflower mash in replacement of rice or potatoes 🙂

Ingredients:
Cauliflower (rough chopped), 3 cups
Cashews (crushed), ¼ cup
Coconut milk, ¼ cup
Salt, 1 pinch
Pepper, 1 pinch
Cinnamon, 1 pinch

Instructions
Add all the ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Simmer for 15 minutes and then remove from heat. Purée in a blender or food processor until smooth. Add 1 tablespoon of water at a time if necessary to get the mixture moving. Serves 2 small.

MACROS (per servings):
Calories: 205
Protein: 6.6 grams
Carbs: 13.9 grams
Fat: 13.6 grams
