🤶🎄🎄🎄** Read to the End for a fun surprise at 3:30 PM EST TODAY*** 🎄🎄 “When you said you didn’t want anything for Christmas - I said, only hand-knits and laced my fingers with yours.” — love you like hand-knits
I recently came across this beautiful little poem by @simoneflynn_. Something about it just made me feel a little burst of warmth in my heart and brought a little dampness to the corner of my eye (I’M NOT CRYING, IT’S JUST SNOWING IN MY HOUSE!) One of my most favorite things about being a part of this community is how inspired I am by what I see when I scroll through my feed and the conversations I have and the connections I make with each of you.I thought it might be nice to illustrate this lovely poem and to share it with you.
The holiday season can be a mix of emotions for a lot of us, it certainly is for me this year, but what I love about this poem is that it evokes that desire for warmth and connection which is especially heightened in these early days of winter when we light twinkling lights to fend off the darkness, and the cold is still so novel - and yet we know there will be months and months ahead of being bundled and wrapped and bogged down in snow and ice. We can provide each other so much comfort and defense against the weariness of winter when we share our light with each other. Sure, presents are nice (ANYONE READING THIS WHO WAS GONNA BUY ME A PRESENT I STILL WANT ONE) but those moments of connection are what is at the core of so many of our holiday traditions. 🎄🎄✨That said, I want to make a new holiday tradition with YOU! Join me around 3:30 PM EST today (Sunday, Dec 9) for LIVE ornament decorating! I’m going to take YOUR requests and draw whatever YOU want on the ornaments for my x-mas tree. So if you want a pony or a your two front teeth or a hippopotamus — now’s the time to ask for it, and I’ll draw it, LIVE, on an ornament and hang it on my tree! (You’ll have to talk to Santa if you want one of those things IRL - hah!) Love you guys! ❤️
