Correct sectioning, spacing, sizing and positioning of extensions all contribute to a healthy and successful hair extension cycle.
When bonds are oversized it can be damaging to a clients natural hair. It puts extra weight and stress on the hair which can cause problems.
As you can see in my photo, extensions should not be placed directly on the scalp. This incorrect placement can put tension on the hair which can potentially cause traction-alopecia.
Any stylist claiming to be a trained and experienced "Hair Extension Specialist" can make any "after" photo look amazing with a little curl and good lighting. However, the important thing to look for is what is underneath the style. This is what determines a professional job from an amateur job.
Remember, sectioning should be done in a straight and even line, extensions should be dragged away from the scalp, each section of natural hair should be even, the bonds should be a healthy size and weight for your natural hair and the bonds should be rolled and attached completely.
