Yesterday morning I tried something new for breakfast and put a scoop of nicecream on top of my chocolate baked oats!
I will be honest, change, especially regarding food is definitely something I struggle with.
I am naturally a creature of habit and when paired with anorexia, this makes trying new foods and stepping outside my comfort zone very challenging and scaring!
For about 3 years, within the depths of my eating disorder, I ate the same food day in day out without a doubt. The concept of even changing the order I had my snacks would freak me out like nothing else!
Since beginning this page 1 1/2 years ago I have tried so many different foods and significantly increased the variance of my diet!
Although it can still be challenging at times to push myself to try new foods, I am slowly getting there.
Yesterday, I swapped having a fresh banana on my baked oats for making nicecream! Although it is the same fruit, just in a different form, it is a huge step for me! I have been wanting to try the combination for ages but irrationally feared it for some reason!
If you struggle with change too I really encourage you to challenge the fear. If I have learnt anything it is the continued exposure to you ‘fear food’ no longer makes it something you fear any longer- you realise nothing ‘bad’ happens and you might just find you love the food ‘Always go with the choice that scares you the most because that is the one that is going to make you grow’ •
