Finally Set a goal at the start of the year to get my mare back into regular work, working over fences with a trip to @somerfordparkofficial for some cross country training and a competition later on in the year
The year started off well, she was progressing nicely until we tried jumping again. Jumping a spread off the left rein was just a not an option. After previously having a serious injury on her left hind leg I wasn’t sure if this was an option again, and possibly she needed retiring off. 19 years old and after several injuries and inconsistency with riding maybe I was asking a little too late
Had her saddle, back, feet and teeth checked. All sorted. Started again and then had to have another week off after falling lame during a fight in the field ♀️ In the past two weeks we’ve got back to it and started pushing. This evening we cleared 1mtre fences with ease. Uprights, spreads, doubles and fillers. Few more days and I’m on hols so another 10 days off for this mare but looking forward to getting back and cracking on.
