How about an excerpt from Marissa's birth journey for #motivationmonday ?!
We love sharing powerful, joy-fueled birth stories from our students!
We will be posting the rest of what she shared #ontheblog later this week. Everything from what contractions felt like to how her husband supported her...watch IG stories for the link!
“With my first baby I had attended the bare minimum requirement for a birthing class. I had thought I was so prepared before our son was born, but once labor began, I panicked. We rushed to the hospital where I was stripped down to a hospital gown, given an IV, an epidural and was hooked up to constant fetal monitoring. For the next several hours, I was confined to a bed given nothing more to eat than an orange Popsicle. When it was time for baby to join us, I could not feel or control my own body.
I knew something needed to change the second time around. I wanted to be in charge of my birthing experience and I knew that meant I would need to equip myself mentally to be able to withstand all that birth entailed. Towards the end of my second pregnancy, my husband and I took Cortney's class.
The class was so much more than just teaching me to minimize and manage pain.. it was a marriage strengthening, confidence building, mind strengthening, knowledge building experience. I love how it provided me with loads of knowledge from birthing to nutrition and so much more. Taking a birthing class was extremely helpful to me in preparing me mentally to believe in my ability to fulfill my calling as a woman. It had laid a foundation for my next birth and because I was prepared, I was not scared. It is incredible to have someone guiding you, but not telling you what to do--reassuring you that YOU have the strength to know how to give birth to your baby!”
And that’s what it’s all about and why we do what we do. ❤️ Cortney + Stephanie
