Celebrate the colours and vintage variations in wine, to me there’s too much focus in professional wine circles about certain vintages not being any good, as in...total write offs. Winemakers on the other hand are always keen and proud of what they have been able to make, both in extremely good and in adverse conditions. They also hope and expect that merchants and consumers will embrace and celebrate the variations through the years. I love 2014s, with their bright and crisp fruit, very approachable now. 2015s are a different beast with better defined fruit and built-to-last, 2016 in whites is another exceptional vintage and even better than the excellent 2015. Domaine St. Prefert @stprefert is a star of the best of the best in Châteauneuf-du-Pape today. Isabel Ferrando prefers subtlety, finesse and elegance, rather than overloading her wines with new oak. 2016 Blanc sold out on Classics, can still be found in select Vintages locations, Classique 2014 is available as an online exclusive @lcbo and 2015 is a Flagship Store Exclusive release this week. It boils down to respect for craft producers and their hard-earned ability to overcome the good, bad and the ugly years! No matter what!
