I chose the images of the jackalope and the jack rabbit next to one another on our new tags because they made me consider what we consider masculine and feminine and why. Is the folk creature masculine because of its antlers, or feminine because of how gorgeous it looks next to the jack rabbit? Are only girls pretty in our culture? We subject other creatures to our own ideas of the binary all the time (shall we visit the "put a bowtie or a bow on every animal ever" imagery on kidswear?), but these two creatures are bare. They are just their furry naked rabbit selves, reminding me how foolish it is to subject our own furry naked selves to be something we are not. Kicks available in the shoe shop, all-cloth itty sizes only. NB-6MOS. Stretchy, squishy, with breathable cotton batting between the inner and outer layers for comfort and extra footie protection.
