My journey of minimalism has given me a new found respect for what I purchase. It has made me rethink anything I bring into my home. $8 shoes which look gorgeous but create foot sweat, crease weird on the front, come away from the sole quickly and aren’t that comfortable do not fit the brief of who I am anymore. Excessively expensive shoes that could be purchased at a more reasonable price also don’t fit the brief.
So here is my shoe collection. Yep, all of it. Summer and winter. Too many? Too little? Who knows. What I do know is I use every single one of these, they suit every occasion, they are shoes I’ve had for years (some have been replaced) and they will continue to stand the test of time because I try to look after them.
A couple of nude heels for the (very) odd occasion where they are needed, nude flats, comfortable runners that can be dressed up or down and summer flats. I will add one more pair of nude sandals (surprise more nude! 😂) come summer.
My shoe philosophy:
👟Buy quality (and this is NOT brand related. You don’t need to buy designer to buy quality. I’ve had plenty of shoes from Target as an example that I’ve loved and that have lasted as they’ve been made from quality materials)
👟Buy what you can afford, less is more - buy within your means
👟Buy on sale where possible - ALL brands have sales on current stock. AFTERYAY was a recent example with brands offering up to 40% off. Sign up to their marketing, you’ll often get a voucher. Use @cashrewardsau where possible, and don’t pay postage fees! Collect in store
👟Think about how your choices will suit your lifestyle and how they will match your existing wardrobe. You can even buy them, try them on at home with different outfits and RETURN THEM if they don’t work for you
We often don’t need more space, we need less stuff. Is it time to declutter your collection? Donate to charity or perhaps sell online? I’d love to hear your thoughts below ❤️
