Several weeks later, a knock came to the bunk door. “I have news,” Poe stepped in and closed the door behind him, a grin so large on his face it looked as though he might burst. “What is it?” Amethyst pulled one ear of her headphones away, pausing the dream she was currently watching with a touch on the screen. “We have a buyer!” Poe exclaimed. Both Fig and Ames looked at him through furrowed brows. “What do you mean?” Fig said slowly, closing the door behind Poe. “With your permission, of course.” Poe added, too excited to slow down. “I assume that you all wanted money out of this in the long run, but it turns out you don’t have to wait long at all! Baron Gold was in the labs earlier today, and he was asking around for data collection capabilities, so I requested a private audience with him. I didn’t tell him what we were doing, or even that we were doing it-- I posed to him that hypothetically…” “I don’t like this one bit.” Fig interrupted, looking at Ames. “Baron Gold is a sleazeball.” Ames nodded in agreement. “A sleazeball that’s offering 20 million credits for the initial purchase of our hypothetical device’s information, and 10 million credits for every year it would continue to provide him with information.” Silence filled the room. That was beyond anything Amethyst had ever expected or hoped for in her lifetime-- hell, ten lifetimes.
