The best advice I’ve ever heard was, “Don’t get into business to be competitive.” And it’s true! You’ll never find satisfaction that way. In fact, you’ll burn out quickly! Get into business to solve problems and use what makes you unique as your platform!
Example: Right now, I’m in the thick of planning my daughters 2nd birthday and I’m researching local custom cakes. So far, I’ve probably looked at 50 different baking accounts - but they’re all different! And, they all have clientele! Imagine if they were all just trying to “one-up” each other and copying the next guy.
Instead of trying to be better than the next person, be your own competition! I like to keep track of my weekly progress. Then I make adjustment and tweak my goals to “beat” myself! I’ll also do this on a quarterly and yearly scale. This takes my eyes off of what everyone else is doing and keep me focused on what I need to accomplish.
