PACK THE NECK ON YOUR SQUATS...this is @sylva_sbc with some speed work from yesterday. And @thecaseywilliams is the lifter that turned me onto this. The last thing I try to do before I actually start squatting (and after I take my breath into my stomach) is pack my neck. You can see him do it very well on this video. I’d always kept my head up, but this is a much more effective, active, and usable cue. You do not want to cock your head up and stare at the ceiling. You want to pack it back towards the wall behind you. You want to make a connection between your trunk (that is braced) lats (which are pulled down for the strongest position possible) elbows (which are pulled down and forward, pulling the bar into your back) and muscles of the upper back and traps by packing your neck. A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link. And this tip will help you feel even more “one with the bar.” You can easily make the top of your chain even stronger by doing this! Pack the neck for a sturdier, stable, more active and in turn, stronger squat!
