Well this snapshot is far from our ‘vision’ but totally sums up my last 24hrs.
.
I saw (no exaggeration), every hour last night thanks to a certain mini human.
.
I then went for a bike ride in an attempt to make me feel better this morning.
.
I hit the deck and annihilated my hands & face 10 metres from home. Thanks to our fur baby.
.
I then try to take a nice photo of our ANZAC inspired pancakes with a freaking brilliant ricotta ‘ice cream’...Baby screams and I come back to take a photo of this melted mess.
.
Lucky it tasted ridiculously good and I don’t even care that it isn’t at all insta-friendly 💁‍♀️
.
Basically, just make it. You won’t regret it..and well, I need someone else to show me how pretty it could have been - so tag me in your creations 😂

Proud mummy moment!

Our food obsessed, kitchen loving 2 year old just introduced me to a new food combo - his first little almost ‘recipe’.
.
After being intrigued by all of the limes we got in our veggie box, he asked to juice one and try it *insert cute sour face here*.
.
He then asked if he could add yoghurt. My first reaction was umm whaat?! But I decided to roll with it and also realised I love lemon in Bircher, so it could actually be ok.
.
Then came his request for a muesli topping and some honey (he has been caught a few times squeezing honey from the bottle straight into his mouth - no judgement here 🍯).
.
Well freaking hell my little legend. I am now addicted to lime with my usual yoghurt and muesli combo!
.
Limes are still in season, so definitely give this a go (then wash it down with a lime gin and tonic maybe 💁‍♀️).

I have found small silver linings in the joy of having two babes that insist on being awake and cheerful before 5.30am.
.
1. Alarm clocks are unnecessary
2. Fitting in exercise (or activity of some description) is most certainly easier; &
3. Breakfast can be quite the occasion - with time to create, enjoy and even photograph!
.
This pic probably gives a false sense of peace, perfection and order, but hey - I will pretend I have my shite together!
.
In the lead up to winter, our recipe design focus is on warming recipes that really satisfy and nourish.
.
I was brave enough to play around with Savoury Oats / Zoats this morning and I was incredibly surprised!
.
To get your head around it, think of the Oats as the bread component to your usual egg/avo breakfast.
.
These ones were our basic ‘green’ recipe, topped with avo and poachies.
.
However the combos are endless - with pesto, Parmesan, flecks of bacon and grilled mushies all working so beautifully!
.
To make:
.
🥣 1/2 - 1 zucchini grated with 1/3-1/2 cup of rolled oats cooked in double the amount of fluid to oats (we used a combo of cow and coconut milk). Cook as you usually would for your porridge (e.g stovetop or microwave or thermie).
.
🥣 While the oats are blipping away, poach your egg/s.
.
🥣 Place oats in a serving bowl, top with avo and your poachies. A sprinkle of salt and pepper is a must!
.
🥣 Optional additions/combos: basil pesto stirred through the porridge when cooking; grilled mushies; Sprinkle of Parmesan; include some chopped grilled bacon 🥓
.
I was such a doubter, but these boast a serious fullness factor and were super delicious!
.

This little warm patch in the weather has us prepping overnight oats again!

There is no set diagnosable criteria, but as a practitioner I am witnessing an alarming increase in clients with disordered eating patterns that absolutely fit within this bracket of symptoms. .
Food fads and trends come and go, but this is one trend we need to stand up and take notice of. .

Siempre hay dos caras en una moneda utiliza lo que sea más favorable y progresivo sobretodo mentalmente. Es tu decisión escoger lo que te nutre a ti. Por cierto, si vas a hacer ejercicio no te mereces cosas NO funcionales al contrario si el cuerpo se estresó (el ejercicio es una forma de estrés positiva) el cuerpo se merece lo más nutritivo para que se recupere con facilidad. ¡Bowl Verde Energético! Como desayuno post-workout después de una larga en bici o corrida o después de una clase HIIT. En una licuadora agregas 1 taza de leche de coco + 1 scoop de colágeno en polvo + 2 tazas de espinaca + 1/2 taza de perejil + 1/2 taza de kiwi congelado + 5 hielos. Al final de topings 3 rebanadas de kiwi, puñitonde gojie berries y una cuchadita de hemp seeds. Ojo los carbs en la fruta están perfectamente medidos para tener la fórmula del 3:1 para rebastecer tus niveles de glucosa sin alebrestar niveles de azûcar en la sangre, el colágeno como proteína para la reconstrucciòn de tejidos musculares y el resto de los ingredientes funcionan como antioxidantes para reducir el ácido láctico. Feeling inspired to talk sleep today after I managed to get more than a 2hr block (I got 4 hours straight 💃💃💃) for the first time I can remember in a LONG time (and how flipping cute is Mav’s sleeping position 🙊).
.
Yes, I have a gorgeous babe that is ‘wakeful’. Not naughty, not bad, just a baby.
.
I don’t think you can explain the level of fatigue to someone until they also have a baby that doesn’t sleep ‘well’. It is a fatigue that aches, makes your eyes sting just to be open and removes motivation like anyone’s business!
.
So when someone (read: husband) tells me they are tired, I don’t doubt it - you just may not know how tired you could be yet haha!
.
Sleep is such a crucial part in daily functioning, health and recovery. But it isn’t always something in our control. For now, I am focusing on my controllables - eating as well as I can and exercising when I feel up to it.
.
And this is what I urge our clients to do - maybe you are away, maybe life has thrown you a curveball. Nutrition will not always be your priority, sleep may not always be perfect and training sessions may be missed - it is ok! Control what you can control. You’ve got this!
.
Not sleeping has only highlighted the importance of sleep in so many of life’s areas for me. It is so crucial to mental health, so important for cognition and massive for performance + recovery.
.
Cheers to only needing one coffee today and not feeling the need to drown my head into a bucket of it! ☕️

| Choc Nut Overnight Oats |

We had to make this piece of deliciousness this week after one of athletes, @perkoperkins, messaged us to make sure we knew it was his new favourite breakfast 🙌

Definite winner! We had a smaller serve as a supper too - the perfect pre-bed recovery! (Imagine how much more recovery I would get if a certain mini human let me sleep longer than 2hrs at a time 😱)

Receta: Chile Poblano a la Quinua. ➡️1 taza de quinua cocida ➡️1/4 de cebolla morada picada finamente. ➡️ 1/2 taza de cilantro picado finamente ➡️1 calabaza rallada ➡️Queso de nuez de la india o macadamia. Ralla 10 nueces o diez macadamias haces el efecto de parmesano. ➡️Chile poblano tatemado ➡️1 cda de aceite de oliva, sal yodada al gusto, paprika al gusto y 1 cdita de vinagre de cidra de manzana.

Preparación: Tatemas el chile y mezclas la quinua con las verduras y sazonas con las especias y condimentos mencionados. Revuelves y rellenas de la mezcla el chile. A mi me gusta acompañar esta guarnición con pescado blanco o salmón asado en ghee. .

Last week we saw a video showing roasted chickpeas coated in chocolate. Intrigued, we set out to see what it was all about - and of course added our own version!

The possible combos are endless and we love them! Make sure you tag us in your creations ❤️

🍫 Drain 1-2 cans of chickpeas and roast at 180deg for 45mins. I reckon you could add some spices too!
🍫 Meanwhile, in a glass bowl combine a mix of nuts, seeds and dried fruit of your choosing. We went with 1/2 cup chopped roasted almonds + 1/3 cup pepitas + 1/4 cup goji berries.
🍫 Add the chickpeas to the nut and seed mix and then 150g good quality dark chocolate.
🍫 Over a saucepan of simmering water, melt the chocolate into the seed mix - stir continuously.
🍫 Once melted, spoon tablespoons of the mix onto baking paper. Place in the fridge to set.
🍫 Your chocolate making is done! Enjoy with a cuppa ❤️

This is what our version of weight loss looks like. No eating below RMR, all foods welcomed and focused around many more important goals other than a number on a scale. Think energy levels, mood, motivation to train, sleep quality, confidence.

Do we start with programs? Often, yes - but designed specific only to them and their food preferences. Why a program? Because for many it provides a sense of confidence and reassurance while we start to educate them about food. 🍕 Pizza Night 💃

So tonight we road tested defrosted pulled pork! Win!!
.
We made a batch a few weeks back but there was SO much and would never have got through it in time. To maximise value and minimise potential waste, we portioned it into 500g serves and froze for an easy dinner.

Our homemade dough (super easy if you haven’t tried it before!) was topped with an easy made pizza sauce, range of veg, the pork and of course the all important mozzarella!

We miss our wood-fired pizza oven at our precious house so so much, but at least this gives us a bit of a fix!

Double fig servings for snacks today ❤️ We had our maple vanilla roasted muesli (incl dried figs) served with a fig, apple and strawberry compote + Yoghurt.

The compote? Literally a combo of fruit heat wii a smidge of water. There were some sad figs marked down at the supermarket and green apples were $1/kg. Whhaaaat!?

Our muesli is a new concoction as I wanted to see what ratios I could get the added sugars down to while still have a crispy yum result.

Pilates. My sanity.

If I said that the removal of running from my life has been tough, it would be an understatement.
.
I miss part of my identity, I miss the freedom of putting on a pair of shoes and just going, and I miss the mental kick it gave me.

However, I read some inspiring words today that made me realise that I have been allowing what I can’t do, define my confidence.

So from today, my attitude is a’changing. My focus will be on the now - the things I can do and the hopeful journey I will continue to have to allow my body to run again.

Hauling in the goodies today for our fortnightly fruit and veg!

For $30 this doesn’t even show everything that we received.

Some of the bargains this week were trays of peaches for $5 😍, a box of ~40 beautiful leeks for $10 and way too many cucumbers to count (again!).
.
So with that math I will be sipping gin and tonics topped with cucumber, eating chicken and leek pie for dayzzzz and singing ‘millions of peaches’ on repeat ✌️ Do love ourselves a good bargain!

Feeling the need to bake with my beautiful 2 year old, we wanted a snack that would of course include all the favourite additions, but I also wanted to try out an idea when I saw that I had an oversupply of beans in the cupboard.
.
Now these Bean Biccies came out better than I could have anticipated. Enough that I really want to share the recipe with you and would love to see your creations!

Ingredients:
🍪 2 x cans of white beans, rinsed and drained (chickpeas would also work)
🍪 1/2 cup of nut butter (or substitute with tahini for nut free)
🍪 1/3 cup of syrup (we love either honey or maple)
🍪 1tsp bicarbonate of soda
🍪 1tsp baking powder 🍪 1/2-1 tsp cinnamon
🍪 1tsp vanilla
🍪 1 - 1.5 cups of extras - e.g. combination of dried fruits, choc chip or nuts.

1. Line a biscuit tray with grease proof paper and preheat oven to 170deg.
2. Add all the ingredients (except the extras) to a food processor.
3. Blitz until mix is smooth and resembles cookie dough.
4. Stir through your chosen extras.
5. Place tablespoon sized dollops on the greased tray and flatten with the back of a spoon slightly*
6. Bake in oven for 10-15mins. They should be lightly browned on top - make sure you don’t overlook these!
7. Store in an airtight container either at room temp on in the fridge.
* To get nice round biscuits or if you just don’t want to bake them all at once, roll the dough in a log shape on baking paper. Cover with glad wrap and freeze. Then simply slice off biscuits to cook as you need them ❤️

Massive congratulations to one of our crew today with the incredible @mrdaverobbo hitting the 250 @parkrunau milestone.

Dave was integral to the growth of Parkrun in Aus and I still remember him trying to explain the concept to me way back in what must have been 2012! I couldn’t get my head around a timed run that was free!

Super super proud of all this guy does and his selflessness in sharing a love of running. You dreamt of the region of running in Newy, and you have certainly achieved it!
