USE A FOOD SCALE⁣

80 grams of oatmeal is an actual cup (left) and as you can see, the measuring cup isn’t accurate at all.⁣

When I filled it to the top and leveled it off, it was actually 35% more volume than what you believe it is.. ⁣

If you are measuring things with cups and other measuring utensils, you could easily be eating over 500 calories per day than you think you are eating! 😳

That’s right 3 Years... its a long and hard process. There are no quick fixes or if there is they are just that “quick and not sustainable” I train six days a week, hard and 100 percent every time I train. Commitment and consistency is absolute.
I eat well, I don’t follow a diet just choose healthy, wholesome foods. Meal prep is key.
I love what I do for a job and that’s a huge motivator. I ended up spending two hours there. .

🔷TRICEP ROPE PUSHDOWN: This directly targets the muscles under your arm that a lot of men and women struggle with! Keep your elbows tight against your body and focus on using only your arm muscle to move the weight. Don’t round your back or you might get injured 🤕 .
🔷 LAT PULLDOWN: this is great for your upper back and biceps and really gets your heart rate up if you do it right! Make sure your core is right and you don’t rush through the movement. Bringing the weight back up slowly is 🔑‼️

Judging by the look on @a_spraggs1 face, the quick workout we did today as a fam was less than pleasant. Try this one out for a quick 30 minute burner:
A1:squat jumps
A2:jump rope

B1:push ups
B2:walking lunges
C1:pull ups or resistance band swimmers
C2: SB shoulder taps or core leg raises

All exercises go for AMRAP; Rest 15-30 seconds between exercises - 3 sets before moving on to next group. rest 2 minutes between groups. ex: complete 3 sets of both As before moving on to your Bs.
The C group is dependent on equipment available/ability
Good luck!! We did this in the south Florida heat... stay alive if you do the same. (No babies were harmed during this workout)

Ever wake up feeling like you’ve been hit by a truck? It could be that your adrenal glands are struggling to keep up with what you’re asking of them.

If we live a high-stress, fast-paced lifestyle, or live our lives on an emotional rollercoaster, it can take a toll on our body. To our body, any kind of stress—be it because we’re in immediate danger or simply feeling financial, relationship or work pressures—is interpreted as a direct threat to our life due to how life was
-
The problem is, in the last one hundred years or so our way of living has taken a radical change. In the last twenty to thirty years, it’s changed even more significantly. But in terms of evolution, this is just a tiny speck of time, so our biology has not yet had a chance to evolve to cope with our modern lifestyle.
-
The body’s protective mechanism is to fire off stress hormones, namely adrenaline and cortisol, produced by the adrenal glands. Adrenaline is our acute stress hormone, designed to get you out of danger, and cortisol is the stress hormone produced in excess if the stress becomes chronic. If we’re living life at a million miles an hour, rushing around trying to get through our endless to-do list and feeling as though we’re not getting anywhere, our adrenal glands can get a walloping.

If the stress response doesn’t truly switch off and you have had a high cortisol output for many, many years, your adrenal glands may not be able to sustain this. They aren’t designed to withstand this kind of output, so they ‘crash’ and cortisol output is no longer optimal or elevated; it will plummet. This has become known as adrenal fatigue, or ‘burn out’.

A form of yoga known as restorative yoga, or Stillness Through Movement, is one of the most effective ways to make progress in recovering from adrenal fatigue. With that said, never underestimate the healing and restorative power of food the way it comes in nature. With a combination of restorative practices, herbal medicine and a nourishing way of eating, it is possible to regain your health and vitality and recover from adrenal fatigue. Prioritising your own health is a necessary step your recovery.

That number. That number we see on the scale. Sometimes it makes up laugh. Sometimes it makes us cry. But what does that number really mean and why does it have so much power over us?!
Let’s talk about weight.

I’ve been back home for a week and have heard at least once a day comments like, “You look amazing!” or “You’ve lost weight!” or “Oh my gosh I want to look like you!” or “How did you do it?!”
I obviously say thank you and move on with the conversation- please any other topic.
The truth is, I weigh exactly the same I did when I moved a year ago. I weigh the exact same I did when I graduated college and moved back to Cbus from Durham. I weigh exactly the same I did when I was 18 and was headed off to college. And I weigh (almost) the exact same I did when I was in sixth grade. 🤷‍♀️

Weight is a number. And that’s it. It is just a number. It has no meaning tied to it and your appearance, body composition, health, and happiness is NOT tied to that number staring back at you on the scale.

It is easy to get so caught up on this number and seeing it fluctuate throughout the week- from morning to night, after you indulged in some pizza 🍕, or after a big sweat 💦 session.

It is easy to get obsessed with wanting that number to go down and reach whatever that “magic number” was when you looked or felt your best. But let’s be honest, when you were at whatever that magic number was, you probably wanted to hit a different magic number.

The truth is, there is no magic number. Weight is just a number.
The magic comes from your overall health and your overall happiness. It comes from body composition. It comes from that confidence that surrounds you and makes you glow. It comes from your strength. And the magic is what is important. ✨

Yes, weight is an importance factor to track when you’re on your health and fitness journey. But it is just a number. It doesn’t account for your muscle or your strength or your confidence or your energy. It doesn’t account for anything that makes you, YOU.
