Our first two 1000Museums Museums of the Week were from the Pacific Northwest (Seattle Art Museum) and the United Kingdom (the Tate). This week we’ve chosen one in the middle.
The museum that houses this work is the Phillips Collection in Washington DC.
As we’ve been saying, here at 1000Museums powered by Art Authority our main focus is on our museum partners. They are the ones who take care of the artwork we love, provide great spaces to view and learn about that art, and help us ensure our reproductions are of the highest quality.
Each week we’re highlighting a 1000Museums partner museum. The Phillips Collection, founded almost a century ago, features nearly 3,000 works by American and European impressionist and modern artists. Masters represented there include Renoir, Bonnard, Braque, Cézanne, Degas, van Gogh, Klee, Matisse, Monet, and Picasso. Plus a whole room devoted to Mark Rothko. And half of Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series.
If you’re in DC, the Phillips is one of the sites not to be missed. Wherever you are please check out the wide selection of Phillips offerings available at https://www.1000museums.com/museums/phillips-collection.
Use promotion code PHILLIPS25 for a special 25% off anything from their collection, including custom-framed items. This code is good for the next week, until we introduce the next 1000Museums Museum of the Week.
Also, it’s getting closer: Sunday, November 25 is Museum Store Sunday. 1000Museums is a charter sponsor of this weekend-after-Thanksgiving special day. We’re encouraging all our customers to visit and support their local museums that day, and take advantage of the specials those museums will be offering. For those who can’t make it, or want to provide even more support, we’ll be providing a number of specials on 1000Museums.com as well. **Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Luncheon of the Boating Party, 1880-81.
