Commitment isn’t the picture of you crossing the finish line. Often times all we see is the finished product which in reality is the culmination of countless hours to attain your objective.
In the beginning the motivation is high and more often than not the reward is high. The pounds fall off, the strength goes up, we get faster, we get the ball in the goal!
But what happens when you stop losing weight? What happens when you go for your run and you just don’t have it? What if you had to work a 12 hour day and you didn’t get your workout in just yet? What happens when you’re feeling a little under the weather and you’re just not up for it today? What happens when you’re not advancing?
The difference between those that attain and those that don’t isn’t as great as you might think. The ones that attain are just consistent and committed to the process. They don’t fall off track to chase a new trend, or cut their session short by a few reps or steps. They don’t continue to lay in bed when they’re a little more tired than normal. They don’t stuff their face because they felt like, “I work hard and I deserve this or that small amount won’t matter.” They understand that the sickness or the appointment that they have won’t replace the job at hand it may just mean a longer day or a schedule change not one losing out on getting closer to the goal. They don’t say I will do it tomorrow. They won’t use the weekend as an excuse. Choosing to follow the habits and rituals that will allow them to grind it out.
Everyday we choose; we make decision on what we value and what isn’t important to us. Are you going to get better today?
